On the huge jump in competition… This is why asking a guy that started his last 40 games at RT in college and thinking you can just flip him to LT and have him go up against the premiere pass rushers at the NFL level is kind of head scratching. LT tackle was a priority before Free Agency and the draft and is still a priority. I am not sure anyone is saying Wallace can play LT. I believe the thought is that Wallace is athletic and smart enough, with proper coaching and practice, he eventually could. that may be day 1. that may be season 2. that may be never. the roster has a lt of holes from the prior staff. they had 3 major holes at QB, WR and LT. the Pats addressed the 3 major holes in free agency and the draft. time will tell if they were able to do so effectively, or not. this is a 2-3 year process. they were never going to be able to filp this roster in 1 offeseason unless they traded out of #3. wolf himself said after they picked wallace, that he is athletic enough to play LT. they seem pretty intent on trying him there

I think in the 7th I am surprised he was there, simply because he has some production and can run a bit. So, I do wonder why he was there? I think Junno Smith is the first thing that came to mind, and that isn’t bad. But we’ll see. I really wish people on this board were able to get to training camp in the summer because some of these kids look totally out of place down there. Usually the receivers and offensive linemen. It’s just a HUGE jump in competition. The receivers, even the ones that run the 4.3’s just don’t know how to sepearate. Meanwhile a veteran that runs a 4.6 subtly will put a shoulder and head fake on a corner and pick up enough space to prevent a contested catch. Hunter Henry is great at it. Jacoby Meyers really improved at it. Guys at any position who have some special physical ability too often live on it and do not have the incentive to develop other skills. So a guy Like Meyers MUST FIND A WAY to become good. When you find a player who has some special ability AND the mindset to make himself into the best he can be you have someone special. You see this in QBs, WRs a lot. Even DLs and pass rushers who in college can use their one thing to beat everyone. But almost none of them are good enough to make it work as well in the NFL without other tricks of the trade. Harry is a fair example. His skill was not speed but muscle used like a rebounder. But he had no football brain. No feel for the game. And apparently never tried to develop other skills to bring his total game to the next level. He was a college player not a pro. Now Polk... I don't know. But I am hearing a lot of good things about him. SO I doubt he will be Harry. But I fear he might be Sanu. A respectable player but no one that is going to win you a championship. I hope Polk is truly more dynamic. His quickness and brain seem to point to being better than Sanu. We will see.
