Moved to Mass in 1985 and became a fan around 1988 before I was a bills fan as I came from upstate NY. But I have always loved the Red Sox and hated the Yankees which drove me to hate the Jets and Giants too... grew up loving the orioles as we were their AAA farm team.

Anyone remember the guys who took down the goalposts walking down route 1 and getting electrocuted when it hit the high tension wires?
or the Jets fan getting stabbed in the stands.
The day we came back from 21-0 to the Jets only to fall short 31-24, but the Red Sox were coming back against the Angels down 3 games to 1 in Anaheim and down in the 9th inning with Donny Moore coming in on the edge of losing the ALCS? That was the "28-3" for that generation for a very short week or two until Buckner.
The good ole days!!!

The blue collar boys were all "warmed" up and they had us grade school kids wide eyed with their drunken swearing/yelling. I remember going to the men's room with my dad, and the line to pee in the sink was just as long as for a urinal....fun stuff for a kid. The whole Gillette experience is truly a different world.

I started following the Red Sox in 1975, the Patriots in 1976 and the Celtics when they drafted Bird. Life was good. I missed out on the Bruins of the early 70s so I only watched them from a distance.

I was 8 years old, and currently grounded... and my dad was so happy about that dinger, that he instantly told me that I was no longer grounded, and I ran outside to play with my friends, haha. I also remember Henderson's 10 foot vertical jump spin.

I remember the 4th and 1 we went for it and Craig James went right through the Bengals and socred aa touchdown, I just looked up a couple of the electrocuted guys on facebook and they're still alive!!! www.upi.com/Archives/1985/12/23/Fans-recuperating-from-electric-shock-thru-goal-post/4278504162000/#:~:text=%2D%2D%20The%20New%20England%20Patriots,a%2020%2C000%2Dvolt%20power%20line.&text=Three%20of%20the%20victims%20were,20%2C%20were%20in%20fair%20condition.

1963 for me. Babe Parilli was my favorite player then in '65 Jim Nance became my favorite. Though Gino was always right up there with both of them.

I was in 2nd grade in 1967 and I convinced the teacher to bring a TV into the classroom to watch the series vs the Cardinals. Told her we were watching history, something my father had said... m.youtube.com/watch?v=Ni8Vw_H77Ts

It’s was around 1970 for me when they build their first stadium just up the road from my house. I think it was the same for me. I remember Plunkett coming to the team, so that would be 1971. That's also the year they moved from Boston to Foxboro and became the New England Patriots, I think.

One funny thing. The Patriots are only 60 years old, so I guess it makes sense no one picked the first two answers.

That electrocution game was a Sunday 1 pm game. The Monday game that caused a 15 year (or thereabouts) moratorium on MNF games in Foxboro was against the Jets. Mid 70s I think. Fights, arrests, general mayhem caused the ban.
I could be misremembering the time frame but I know it was not the goalpost game and it was definitely against the Jets.
I was supposed to go to that Bengals game but couldn’t get out of work. My buds went and got home about 10 pm.

They had that reputation but it was all from that building. It was a fun place to watch a game. Nobody was on their phone. You had a pretty good view even in the cheap seats. Scratch that, cheap benches. The current one, not so rowdy. It’s like the old Garden vs the current one. Just a very different environment. Iron Horse before the game. Fights on the ice, fights in the stands.

Grew up overseas in the late sixties/early seventies, half the company was from Texas, half from New England...hard to be a fan then..Cowboys were 'America's team'. and we were the doormat of the league for forty years, so I have no sympathy for those who complain about the current dynasty...thirty years of pain, 20 years of incredible memories...will never forget when the Pats opened up in 76 or 77 with a 6-1 start and then went 1-6...Sam Bam Cunningham and Little Mac Heron...Plunkett was another memory, traded to Oakland where he won the Super Bowl...good grief...

Plunkett won 2 SB's as a Starter. 4 TD's 0 INT's, 433 yards, with a 121.2 QB rating total in both Games. Beat a Darn good Redskin team with last win. Redskins were heavily favored.
Tom Flores their Coach never got enough credit. He won more SB's then Madden.

I know I'm old but I think the Dallas game in the early 80's was the impetus for them losing home MNF games. Were they at home or on the road when Howard Cossell broke the news of John Lennons death on MNF?

Were they at home or on the road when Howard Cossell broke the news of John Lennons death on MNF? Could be. I just remember that game against the Jets. Pretty sure it was in the 70s. Huge number of arrests, cops assaulted. I remember they had to handcuff guys to a fence or something. I was a wee lad but the stories left an impression. They crushed the Jets though, I remember that. I thought that was what caused the ban. But that’s possibly incorrect.
