One of my all time favorite quotes was from President Ronald Reagan when talking about the Soviet Union: Trust, but verify.
If I can't verify what these blokes are writing, then I pretty much ignore them. They all make stuff up. The good ones just do it less often.

All this supports two things. First, there was no market for Gilmore. Unless everyone other than Carolina just lost the Pats phone number. I mean that happens I guess? Second, Gilmore wanted out. Why else would he agree to play for Carolina under the same contract he wouldn’t play with the Pats for? This ^ Although I’m skeptical about the second part, I think if Gilmore proves he’s healthy they already have a quid pro quo agreement in place for a new deal. Carolina has a ton of cap space, they pay Darnold nothing for years if he keeps playing well, they can afford it and love DB’s. where do you come up with this information that is continuously wrong? the Panthers picked up Darnold's 5th year option. they pay him $19m in 2022 and then he is a free agent. they have him for 1 year after this unless they franch him

should the Pats attempt to sign JC Jackson now? or do they wait until after the season and risk losing him in free agency?

Offer him what the fish just paid Howard and he’d probably sign. Less than that and he’ll be fine taking his chances in FA.

I think they determine where they are in their rebuild with a rookie QB, and work the roster to that same timeline. a player with 12 games remaining may not.

I know you gave your opinion. wait it out 4 more games. I never said they had no shot at the playoffs I said they (not me) should determine Mac's timeline and set their roster accordingly If Mac's timeline is this season, stay the course, absolutely

I am not sure on Mac's timeline. I am not sure I can recall any rookie QB over the past 20 years that has had a timeline of first year? I am not sure Mac is that first. at some point need to find out on a lot of players, and should they start to get snaps? Wino Jennings JJ Williams JJT Stevenson Uche etc at some point do these guys start to play over Hightower, KVN, Bolden, Collins etc?

The Pats just spent about a billion dollars the past offseason. They’re not in “rebuilding mode” lmao. They have talent and a rookie QB trending up. Do what you can to keep good talent and let the chips fall where they may

Making the playoffs will go a long way in the development and maturity for Mac.

Wait one day it’s a business and the next BB is doing a solid? You don’t do solids in a business unless it’s for you. No one will care once he’s gone if he’s butt hurt but if the business suffers that’s a different story. Whether these guys like it or not their Bitcoin as far as the owners and GMs are concerned. So BB got rid of a car (Z28)and gets a wagon in 2 years for it. While still making some payments on the Z. I’d ride it for 2 years and wholesaled it after. I agree - which is why I've been critical of Bill for this move. He mishandled this situation badly. To get a 6th round pick in 2023 for him (which is the equivalent of a 7th round pick) is a joke. But he did do Gilmore a solid by sending him to Carolina.

Anybody even thinking forward with Mac Jones is not smart. We have absolutely no idea how good he will be. 4 games into the season with a terrible O-Line, is like buying a 350 V8 and running only 4 cylinders. You don't know how fast it can go. 2 Things we win. 1) STOP THE TURNOVERS You win 70% of games if you win the Turnover battle in games if you do this. Don't matter the Talent. Las Vegas numbers for years. 2) Fix the O-line, keep working on it. It will come, stay positive. On #1 read the Boxscores you will see Turnovers beat 400 yard Passing Games, 3 or 4 TD's. Greatest stat their is. Turnover.

I don't have the same irrationally high opinion of draft picks that many seem to, so no I wouldn't trade him. I don't care about maximizing his value, I care about making the playoffs. Now, if there's a trade involving a player we can use more than Jackson or just as useful with a better contract situation, I'm listening.

Tom Brady was drafted 198 picks later. This is an extreme example. Or is it?

You’re essentially saying the round doesn’t matter, but if we had a thread about recent patriots draft picks…how many posts would I get saying they picked last in the first round? They only matter when it’s convenient I guess
