Bourne said today Mac's int was on him. I'd say 50/50. nesn.com/2021/10/patriots-wideout-makes-honest-admission-about-mac-jones-pick-six/“That whole sequence, I’ve been thinking about that,” Bourne said. “I didn’t touch the ball before that play, and it came off my fingertips. I looked at the film, and I took a one-step slant. I was supposed to run a three-step slant. It’s things like that that I can’t do, and that’s on me. So when I did that, that’s all I thought about.

After the draft I binge watched every pass Mac and the other top QB's threw last season. I said Smith owes part of his Heisman to Mac because not many QB's could have placed the ball like that for him to make those highlight reel catches. Mac has elite accuracy. His ball placement and timing is incredible for a rookie. I don't think that's me being a homer. I get a kick out of all this "ceiling" talk we hear. Nobody knows what his f'n ceiling is. I don't care who they are. I doubt even BB and Josh have an inkling yet. I think this kid is going to be a hoot to watch.

Good post. Some folks are wondering if it's Mac who is elevating others; as opposed to others elevating Mac's play.

At the risk of ridicule, what does McCorkle mean? Is it some pop culture reference I am unaware of?

Hopefully BB can get the kid one playmaking WR before the trade deadline. Not a SHO, but a playmaker is desperately needed.

With respect to the 'ceiling' reference, is there a particular biometric that predetermines what a QB's ceiling might be? I have no idea what his ceiling is and I suspect neither do the 'experts.'

I think it was Bedard that said Bourne took the blame on this but was actually correct. per Bedard (I believe it was him) the play call was a 3 step slant, but the defense was defending the 3 step, so Bourne correctly read the defense and ran a 1 step slant, and was open. Mac did not read the defense correctly, and threw a 3 step slant. catchable but not on target

I’m starting to like Bourne more and more. I like how he took responsibility for the INT, whether or not it was his fault. That means he’s gonna work to be better next time. Now let’s have everyone adopt that mindset......

Agholor has a cap number of 15 million next year with 10 of that in dead money. Smh . jonnu smith’s cap number for 2022 and 2023 is just awful.

Whats the cost of those 3 have to do with adding a legit playmaker? Its clear a playmaker is needed, Agholor was obviously a miss.

Mac has a 71% completion rate. That means his receivers are open. Imagine if he had better pass protection. The receivers are not the problem, correctable mistakes are.

Smart rookies usually get better. Gain strength and knowledge, but clearly better talent helps too. Just ask Kyler.
