Why? Because they moved up for track star Tyquan Thorton instead...and passed on Pickens!
Speaking of, he already has 195 yards receiving today!
Tyquan Thorton - the second coming of N'Keal Harry!
DAMN!!!!!!!

Because Pickens only blocks when he feels like it.

Because Pickens only blocks when he feels like it. That’s not a good answer. The guy’s barely 23. One reason why bill the gm needs to go. In what world was thornton a better prospect than pickens.

The difference between the two was a .2 second time on the 40, which is an eternity. Yeah BB got it wrong, but knowing his draft history with receivers and how horribly we develop them here, Pickens would have come here and right now be well on his way to the glue factory, and Thorton would have gone to Pitt and been lighting it up. And people here would be saying, how come we can't get a receiver like Tyquan Thorton?

Pickens was a highly touted recruit that came to Georgia. He had some injuries but he might have been a first rounder had he not gotten injured. He sss expect to early in the second round. Thornton’s negatives . Lean frame can struggle with physical corners. Lacks nuance on most routes and has a limited route tree. Limited ability to make plays on short and intermediate areas of the field. Pickens was a better prospect player in a better conference. Not a fan of Baylor wideouts.

I'm probably the biggest defender of Bill on this forum. But the Harry pick and the entire 2022 draft was a disaster! I hated the Strange and Thorton picks from the get go.

Last week Pickens had Mitch Trubisky and he couldn’t be bothered to block… and he sucked.
This week he has Mason Rudolph, an offense that’s trying to force feed him the ball to get him invested and he’s great.
Mac sucks, with a great QB Tyquan could be productive also… he also has to play snaps and our line needs to block.

The problem with bony t is despite his speed he’s a lousy route runner. He doesn’t sell his routes well and doesn’t create separation.

Headcase. I'd rather have Puka Nacua. He’ll block without hesitation.

The fact that he’s not even 23 is ridiculous. Problem witn the squealers their QB situation is dicey at best. Pickett has been disappointing.

At least Pickens plays! His 195 yards yesterday is probably more than Thornton has in his 2 years here.
Terrible pick

I believe Thornton isn't as bad as he has looked.
A lot of our poor receiver performances are due to offensive dysfunction.
Never should have been taken ahead of Pickens, you all know how I feel about that.
But Pickens here would probably look like a bad pick like Zenape said.

I think Thornton's ceiling is like Philip Dorsett level. Nothing more.

Moss was Randy moss before he went to Oakland. The problem with bony t is despite his speed he’s a lousy route runner. He doesn’t sell his routes well and doesn’t create separation. Moss being Moss before he went to Oakland then not producing because the offense around him including his QB’s were horrid proves my point. Thornton looks a smidge better with Zappe than he does Mac, it’s not far fetched to think he’d look substantially better with a Burrow or Mahomes and better offense around him. Receivers don’t throw to themselves…. and Pickes went from zero to hero in one week… oh yeah, and only after they switched the QB. Coincidence… no.

He has 4 receptions for 22 yards in 3 games with Zappe. That's better? Imagine a WR draft report that said, "in order to look like an NFL caliber receiver, he needs to play with one of the two best QB's in the league." What a ringing endorsement.

Pickens with Mitch Trubisky looked like hot garbage, Randy Moss with Andrew Walters couldn’t produce…. but you don’t see the correlation.
