We all focus on the DRAFT as the timeline for new coaches and GMs, but the decisions made in free agency are just as important and start well before. March 5 is the deadline for franchise tags. March 11 is the start of legal tampering, and March 13 is the start of free agency. The players resigned and lost in free agency, and the new players signed off other teams will have as much or more impact in the 2024-25 season than do the 7 draft picks the Pats have at this time. That means today it is 6 weeks and counting before critical decisions are made, and really, the in house free agency negotiations can be happening right now. So ... OC and DC decisions are pretty critical and time sensitive. Playing around with draft simulators (which is a fun game, but also limited in its connection to reality), if a team isn't over the moon with a particular player at the top of a draft, and particularly a QB, I think the Mel Kiper bit: "And if the Patriots aren't thinking quarterback, he has a "nifty nine" group of offensive players at the top of the draft -- including Ohio State receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. -- who qualify as difference-makers. And that's the side of the ball the Patriots need the most help." is an important reference. That is why if they aren't taking one of the top three QBs, trading back to around 10 and getting at least an additional high 2nd rounder, and one of those 'nifty 9' and getting a 2025 first is really attractive. Let some other team bet their future for a player they have fallen in love with, while you get a top quality LT, a top quality WR, and a top quality _____ or a second round QB. And have two first rounders in your pocket for next year. We all marvel at what the Bills have become, or the Dolphins, or the _____. But they have built those teams on the backs of years of drafting in the top ten. Bonus question: The 'broken Mac' being compared to the 'broken Tua' ... is this the Tua and company everyone was trashing as they wimped out against the Chiefs last weekend? yes, that's the same Tua, who looks like will be a top 5 MVP in the league this year, and 50/50 to sign the richest contract for any QB in football this offseason. that's him

The good news, with Mac as qb, we are guaranteed another top 5 draft pick next year.

You commit to Mac Jones as QB, by May 2nd you have to make up mind on the 5th year Option. That means if you Draft WR in the Draft or OT, wouldn't you have to keep Jones for 2 years? That would be the most nightmarish scenario ever: keep Jones and draft a WR at #3.

I think the article from Bedard on Mac Jones, him being at the presser, teammates tired of him, his prima-Donna attitude, are REALLY TELLING because Bedard is/has always been a “Mac Guy”. He has defended him at every turn, he has spit out Mac’s narrative from day one, he seems to have “Mac sources” working in his corner…and yet he was the one with an unidentified source telling how much the teammates are sick of him, his attitude, his play, his fakeness. And that’s what I get a kick out of - how Mac was painted as being loved by his teammates by a few beat writers, while other media members were hearing otherwise…that many in that locker room couldn’t stand him. And those reports came last year. Yet all we heard was how popular he was inside that locker room from Bedard and a few others.
I think this kid is a bonafide TOOLBAG. From day one something screamed PHONY. The way he didn’t want to accept his first TD pass ball, and handed it back. Phony. The way he’s run by little kids at camp during autograph time, give the thumbs down, and then laugh. The way he’d celebrate right in the faces of the defense, piss them off, on broken down plays at camp when the defense was not allowed to pass rush, the play was blown dead and this tool bag would scramble to the end zone anyway (like he didn’t hear the whistle) and then celebrate with a slide on his belly, or a huge spike of the football. Phony.
And if you don’t believe this latest article from biggest Mac Jones supporter over the last three seasons (Bedard), who by the way is also a PHONY, then consider this…consider a co-worker that you know. That one guy who underperforms at work despite being handed everything from day one. And THAT guy ^^ causes his usual scene, blames everyone else, decides he’s going to take his bag, sulk and go home. But now he’s presented with a last ditch kiss ass chance to show up, sit all nice like he wasn’t the problem in front of the new boss and get his face time. PHONY.
Does Russia have a professional football league? Can we trade him there for a roll of tape and a flathead screwdriver? Maybe some anti fungal cream or something?

Like the “wink” gif of Mac that is used…screamed PHONY! Whenever anyone “winks” it usually comes off as either a joke or lying…he has shown to be a rich arrogant brat, who goes running to mommy or feel entitled and that everything will go HIS WAY and can’t face real adversity with class and maturity!

I think we'll know soon enough what Mac's teammates actually think of him. If Mayo truly is a 'players coach' (whatever tf that actually means) then perhaps he'll crowdsource (or at least get a sense of things) what's going to happen with Mac.

Yup, because the "eye test" showed that even if Zappy isn't an NFL starter, the Offensive Players played with a lot more intensity when Zappy entered the games.

You want to talk as positively as humanly possible about Mac Jones for obvious reasons. Make as many excuses for him publicly as humanly possible throwing everyone else under the bus without explicitly throwing them under the bus, again for obvious reasons. I mean that is what I would be doing. Public relations is all about spreading positivity without saying anything that will encourage anyone to remember what you said. Like lots of stuff, it's not as easy as what I just said makes it seem.
