Just heard a report Gilmore was downgraded to out with a concussion. Edit: www.thescore.com/nfl/news/1397738-patriots-gilmore-downgraded-to-out-vs-jets-with-concussionNew England Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore was downgraded to out Saturday for Sunday's game against the New York Jets due to a concussion. Gilmore was on the injury report during the week but was listed with an ankle issue. He presumably suffered the concussion during practice, though the Patriots didn't announce when the injury occurred. With Gilmore sidelined, as well as No. 3 cornerback Eric Rowe, the Patriots should start Jonathan Jones alongside Malcolm Butler.

Just heard a report Gilmore was downgraded to out with a concussion. Wow... Didn't hear about him being injured in the Tampa game. Lucky they're not playing the Falcons this week. Hopefully he recovers quickly. Ok my bad, I see it happened at practice.

It would have to be a practice hit or personal accident otherwise he couldn't have practiced. Go get 'em Burkhead and Lewis.

He may not be 100% the rest of the regular season. I still can't figure the Gilmore signing out for the amount of money. If we're migrating to taller bigger corners then start drafting some. Not the 5' 10" 185 lbers If this doesn't work out I want to see in BBs book that this was what happens when you go all in.

With ribs it usually take 3-4 weeks then a flak jacket for a while, Burkhead should be back next week.
Jonathan Jones has consistently been our best corner and special team's tackler this season so I have no problem with getting him a start... frankly he deserves it.

From my experience it takes 3-4 weeks just to breathe with a rib injury and it hurts enough you will favor it. Just my opinion.

I predict with Gilmore out ...secondary will have their best game of the year... something to be said about a stranger brought in to take the place of a teammate whom the team has won with... Gilmore - Butler.

says who? He was suppose to be back this week. I have seen nothing about him being out. New England Patriots ✔@patriots Rex Burkhead (ribs), Stephon Gilmore (concussion) and Harvey Langi (back) have been downgraded to out for tomorrow's game. #NEvsNYJ 3:23 PM - Oct 14, 2017

Gilmore - Butler. I swear I don't understand why everyone is drawing this conclusion. This happens all over the NFL. Players dream for the day it becomes them. Gilmore waited 5 years for his big payday. Butler is on his 4th season. It happened when the Pats signed Adalius Thomas. It happened to Edelman when they signed Amendola. Nobody sulked and tanked when that happened. Furthermore, it's not as if only the secondary has struggled. And I gotta tell you. The very fact that Butler has shown how something like this can so negatively affect his game means he isn't worthy of investing big $$$ into. Gilmore played well in Tampa when they finally played him man to man. If the secondary plays better it will be because as some of us have predicted……they will continue to play better and better.

Yeah, that's logical? Butthead and Lewis, two guys who have barely played this year are going to carry the team to victory by grinding out long drives to keep the vaunted Jets offense off the field. Me, I'm counting on Brandon Bolden and the guy who fills up the Gatorade buckets. They should pick up the slack for Gilmore.

Who's left to play CB with Gilmore and Rowe out?
Butler, Jones and Bademosi? Ouch. That's not nearly enough even for the lowly Jets.
I think we see McCourty at CB at times with Harmon back and Chung / Richards in the box. Lots of 3'safety today with our CBs ailing.

Watching the Jets last week, Browns were not scared last week, they played their Safeties up, to stop the run. And there was not much threat of deep passes. McCown and Receivers not that good. Held them to 200 yards passing, and no running game. This was the Browns remember. I want to see Patricia how he deploys this Defense. This game will tell me a lot, about him.

When you have the worst defense in the league every offense is "vaunted". I expect the Jests to get at least 24 points today. The offense better be ready to score 30.

I doubt the Jets have the ball long enough to get into the 20s.
Pats only need to make tackles and not commit stupid penalties. Beside the blown coverages (which didn't happen last week) that's what's killed them
