They need Hightower in the playoffs. Harris played well last week. Put him in again.

It wasn't about Jones over Hightower, IMO it was about the lack of playoff production for the money it was going to cost them to sign C.Jones. Jones had 2 sacks in 9 playoff games. They ended up getting 2.5 sacks form flowers in 3 playoff games.

After the plays Hightower has made for us in Super Bowls, even mentioning him in the same breath as Chandler (no show after week 8) Jones should be a crime.

I mean is anyone surprised? This is what you get with Hightower, no wonder no one else signed him. The guy missed all of camp, most of this season and now he'll miss some more...maybe a lot more. Can't say I'm surprised, in fact I wouldn't be surprised if we never see this guy healthy.

This is big not only because of his play but because they had moved him back to the middle and made him the signal caller for the d again in recent weeks.....when the d started playing better and making fewer mistakes. He has been called the bb on the field. Your not gonna get that with Harris.

Talk to me about Chandler in December and the playoffs. He was always a beast for us early on too. It is a fact (aka proven by looking at his stats) that he wilted in the playoffs. Not just sacks but everything. Some astute minds here will point out how he was double teamed in the playoffs and that's why his production dropped. It's a wonderful explanation except for the fact it falls apart when asked to explain why it doesn't happen to the other top players at his position. You'd think Chandler is the only guy who gets double teamed. The best players step up in the playoffs, not down. And let's not forget. Does anyone really think his drug incident while getting ready for a playoff game wasn't a factor? That alone probably sealed his fate on this team.

I mean really?? Can he ever stay on the field. Meanwhile chander jones doesn t miss a game.. I don't get it Hightower's lack of availability is frustrating. He's the Gronk of the defense in the injury category. But, he's also the Gronk of the defense in value. The Patriots don't win SB 49 and 51 without him. Chandler Jones? Really? He had availability issues when he played for the Patriots, too. Though Jones was a very talented player, after that synthetic marijuana incident on the eve of the 2015 season divisional playoff game against Kansas City...he had to go. It's not like BB let him walk for nothing in return. The trade with Arizona netted the Patriots their starting LG, Joe Thuney, and the talented but also oft injured WR, Malcolm Mitchell. What has Arizona done after adding Jones? What have the Patriots done without him? One last thing to add to the frustration over Hightower Gamer. Word is that he'll miss more than just the Chargers game with this shoulder injury. Unfortunately, We both recognize that injuries are part of the game. The Patriots should sit him out for the next couple of games, in order to let him heal up for the second half of the season, and the inevitable playoff run.

After the performance of Van Noy, Harris last game, I'm pretty sure with Roberts returning, those 3 should be able to play adequately enough in the middle while Hightower is out. Not one of them can replace Hightower given how BB uses him, but I think our LB corps without him can skate by into the bye week somewhat unscathed.

In fact, I would say CJ wilts in December and is pretty much useless after that.

We should be used to durability issues at this position. After all didn’t he replace Mayo? Hightower gets an injury bye from me for what he has done in the Super Bowls. He gets an Amendola. In hindsight it might have been smart to sign Harris. I wish we had the same depth at TE.

torn labrum being mentioned. that's not the shoulder. apparently on a DFreeman run, Hightower tried to arm tackle him and Freeman ran thru it
I think when discussing Chandler Jones play off performance, it is only fair to also mention that by the time the playoffs rolled around, Chandler was on fumes, with BB playing him into the ground with way too many snaps during the season (ditto Nink)
