Why not? He wasn’t that bad this year. A little inconsistent at times. Guy ran a 4.5 forty... nothing says "bust" like a slow CB from a big school with a stupid name. He had a 88 rating on pff. Many clocked him under that. Also he has an injury that’s why. He’s nursing an injury. Fracture his foot.

I’m probably in the minority, but I think this is the spot to trade back…IF there is a solid offer on the table. I’m thrilled that they got Maye. I still can’t believe that he was still on the board at #3. I see a lot of good players available. If a team wants to move up to 34, I think this is the spot to move back. But I do love DeJean. If they stay put, I’d take him. Not a “need”, but I love the player.

Wolf was interviewed and was saying they still need speed at outside WR. Ladd imo is not that player, as much as I do like him. also does not bode well for Thornton if the Pats do take an outside WR. have to figure the team keeps 5. Osborn, Pop, Bourne are locks. if they go WR at 34 or trade for a WR, that is 4 locks. JuJu or Thornton most likely would go. I would think they could get Thornton onto the PS. I also thought I saw somewhere they were deep into discussions to bring back Zeke (Reiss?) The current WR corps is mediocre. I agree 100% with Wolf, we need a significant upgrade or two here. We also need an LT. IF Wolf is looking for outside help, I think they key in on Mitchell.

If staying at 34, I'd give serious thought to first round sliders DeJean or Newton. Otherwise, trade back a bit and take one of Fisher, Rosengarten, Suamataia or Paul.

My pick #34/Rd 2 shortlist would be:
WR Ladd McConkey WR Roman Wilson OT Blake Fisher CB Cooper DesJean DT Jer'Zhan Newton DT Braden Fiske
And, I think NE should just go out and get the best players, so if that means getting Cooper DesJean (could be your boundary CB or FS) at #34, I think that represents solid value, and it also hits a need.
EDIT: OL Graham Barton has been removed as he was selected 26th by Tampa Bay.

If they take Desjean you are looking at a top flight secondary. Sadly they have so many offensive holes that they will most likely go OT.

I like the upside of Paul at OT but he may not be there when we pick in round 3.

Carolina traded up to get him. They are now desperate to put high end talent around Bryce Young to see if he is salvageable. Yeah, that sucked. Maybe they should reunite Maye with Devontez Walker his NC teammate? Definitely at 68. He might be there. Or trade up a few spots at the end of the 2nd to grab him. If we come out of tonight with Patrick Paul and Walker, I will be very happy.

IMO, the Pats need a left tackle in this draft more than any other position, including WR. I think Patrick Paul should be the choice. The guy is 6-8 331 pounds, and despite coming from a smaller school he has first round measurables. His 86 1/4" (36 1/4" arms) wingspan is ridiculously wide and he has functional strength where he can probably play immediately. He might be available in the 3rd round though.

He might be available in the 3rd round though. No way, and there’s a drop off after him or guys with good athleticism but who are weak and need to get stronger. I have a first round grade on Patrick Paul, he went to the Senior Bowl and showed he belongs.

If they stay put, I’d take him. Not a “need”, but I love the player. I agree! I’d be reaching out to cinci to see if they want a Higgins replacement and I’d ask for 49 and 80 for 34, or 49 and 97 and 115 or next years 3rd. Either way unless you see a huge drop off in talent, id look to move back and get a few more picks in this draft because the team has too many needs remaining, especially at ot, wr, dt, and cb. Id be thrilled if they draft rice at wr in round 4-5 or late round 3 at the earliest. I think I prefer mckinstry over DeJean, but I’d wait on both as you can get a similar and I think possibly better player in max melton in round 3.

That hopefully can be coached up.

I will give the team some credit if they get this kid O-Line help at LOT. You can still make a trade later in Draft for WR, as teams might take a 2025 pick.

Why would they need a LT? One of the collaboration's first FA signings was Chubaka Okorafor. They must think highly of him to sign him as not just a depth piece which is what he appears to be.

Very interesting comment on his prospect profile: “Fisher is the more naturally talented of the Notre Dame tackles, but (Joe) Alt is much more consistent and technically sound.” - AFC personnel executive I like your list, including Fisher.

Thanks. And, something a lot of fans don't know is Blake Fisher won the LT job as a true freshman, but got hurt soon after. Alt then took over, and never gave it back... pushing Fisher to RT. I think he's a sneaky option at LT... and I think he could make them a better team even if he plays RT, and they move Onwenu inside to his more natural position.

You have to think Buffalo is taking a WR, probably Adonai Mitchell... but he has character concerns so maybe not. Do the Pat's want that headache? Xavier Legette being stolen at the end of the first by Carolina stung a little, that was the guy I wanted on the come around. Kingsley Suamataia or Patrick Paul might be the safer pick here, or trade back a few spots for little more draft capital. My thoughts as well. We should have paid that small price to move up like the Panthers for Legette. ugh!
