Yeah Zappe is toast. Which is funny because he "liked" the post when Mac Jones got traded. I wonder if he "liked" the post when Milton the human howitzer got drafted.

More like a sawed off shotgun cause his passes go everywhere! Monster arm for sure, but in six years of college no one has fixed his timing or accuracy.
Going to be a huge QB room, and yeah Bailey is toast, but not really sure why they picked a QB there - any work they give him is going to detract from the time they get with Maye who needs some hard coaching.

The kid will get plenty of reps and show the staff if he deserves more. I love the pick. We have a QB room, HUGE improvement from last year in the most critical position group.

The QB room and WR room and even the o-line room are a very very clear sign to the guys from the BB years, the new regime is here! If you’re a BB draft pick or FA signing on offense and still here…your job is freaking gone unless you truly earn a spot.

Joe Milton wins starting job.
He doesn't have happy feet like Maye.
Gets sacked half as much as Maye and Brissett.
Stronger arm tham Maye & Brissett

I do not like selecting 2 QBs from the same draft class. How do you split the reps? Especially if the QB you selected first is not expected to start soon.

I wonder if they find a mysterious illness for Milton or maybe even just try to slip him to the practice squad. In no way does it sound like he will be ready to even be the emergency QB, or a swiss army knive player. Both will take at least a year to teach him up. Zappe may have a year at #3...

Best case Milton becomes a perennial 3rd QB or he is converted into a TE. He has a cannon arm. Great. He’s a project to say the least.

Milton has so much to work he’s not gonna be given reps with any potential starter. He’s gonna be throwing to camp bodies that are obviously getting cut or helping act as the simulated QB in defensive drills

Lol this isn't like an RPG where you can only devote a certain amount of points to one skill or another. The coaching will obviously focus on Maye and his needs. They drafted him at 3 for a reason. Milton is more like a "F@CK IT" pick to see if he sticks. It will be all on Milton to show he's worthy of being the top backup QB in 2025

Just like the Brady situation. QB room is full but couldn't pass up. Besides, Zappe wasn't going to stay long. He had his opportunities and didn't do well. So it's time to move on from him. This draft was a bit goofy for me but I understood this pick. Unusual for sure.

In theory you are absolutely right but between a guy picked at #3 and a guy taken in the 6th round, let me guess who will get the most reps...

The best scenario for the Pats in 2025 is: Maye is ready for starting (year 2 jump, bye bye Brissett) and Milton shows enough to be his backup.
