He might be a better receiver but the Geogia coach and friend of BB obviously told him that Pickens is a god damn knucklehead and won't block on a consistent basis. It sometimes take some time but far too often it comes to light exactly why BB passed over certain players

I hated both picks from the get go. The Strange pick was strange because he was picked two rounds too early. The Thornton pick was awful because the Patriots drafted a skinny track star to play football - with predictable injury prone results. Terrible.

He doesn't even run good strong routes when he knows he's just a decoy on a play. let alone block consistently. There was a LB some years back from TCU if I remember correctly that I liked a lot and hoped they would draft and they passed on him, went reasonably early. Sure enough looked good in the NFL too but before long arrested and out of the league. The NFL and Pats have way more info on these guys than we do. The fans have a 1/10th of the info. The Pats and BB will take a shot at those types(questionable character) of guys but generally it will be outside the 1st 2-3 rounds. (ie Hernandez, Jack Jones). They will take shots on injury histories earlier though.

Im sure he gets a lot of different info from all of the guys he knows in college, scouts, etc...I think we have seen enough of them whiffing completely on players at receiver to gauge that if players they passed on don't work out, then it probably was just a coincidence. Pickens also is not the first lazy receiver either

The film the teams use to evaluate prospects can't be found on You Tube. If Pickens was averse to blocking and running hard every play the teams would have known that pretty early in the process.

Oh no. Please tell me RK would never get Tomlin in NE. Tripps is being called out by the Gothic Tribunals in Germania, as well as the national media - the latest being Shannon Sharpe - for not holding his players accountable. That said, there's no way he's coming to Foxborough. But, the Green Gotham media has been singing the praises of Tripps lately. Tomlin has one more year left on his contract. The Green Goblin Gazettes and talking heads are touting the wisdom of firing the not so great Saleh, and trading a first round draft choice for Tripps. I kid you not! LOL!!!!!!!!!

youtu.be/6vS78JatbGc?si=_WFCx_eMeCAIbldQExhibit A on why 4 wins trumps 8-9 when you don’t have a QB. Pats are in a much better position than Pitts. Too bad they threw out the baby with the bath water in firing BB.

The Goths have totally revamped their quarterback situation: After Terry Bradshaw retired, the Steelers waited 20 years to draft their next potential franchise quarterback. After Ben Roethlisbeger retired, the Steelers wasted no time. In the very next draft, they used their first-round pick on Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett. Just two seasons later, the Steelers pulled the plug on the Pickett experiment, sending him to Philadelphia for a fairly modest return. The move comes not long after the Steelers were focused on moving forward with Pickett and Mason Rudolph, who started the last three regular-season games (all wins) and a playoff loss to Buffalo. Less than one month ago, Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that the Steelers were not interested in a veteran quarterback who aspires to start. One week ago, that approach dramatically changed, with Dulac (in a potential effort by whoever steered him wrong to make amends) reporting that Russell Wilson was visiting the Steelers. Now, Rudolph has signed with the Titans and Pickett has been traded and Russ has been introduced as the new starter in the Steel City. For most teams, it’s no big deal. For the Steelers, it’s a break from how they do things. They’re patient. They don’t make sudden movements. They don’t take big risks. They don’t go all-in — in the normal sense or the Jerry Jones nonsense sense. They now are. They’ve admitted that Pickett was a mistake. He did nothing spectacular during his two years and 24 starts. His passer rating was an anemic 78.8. He threw 13 touchdown passes and 13 interceptions. And so the Steelers have stepped aside from their stay-the-course approach and made a bold move. Russ is in. Kenny is out. Mason is gone. They have one quarterback under contract in Wilson. It remains to be seen who they’ll add. (Ryan Tannehill remains available.) For now, we know one thing. The Steelers have flipped their own script on how they do things. It will be interesting to see whether it’s an aberration or the start of a new trend. www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/steelers-continue-to-act-out-of-character-in-trading-kenny-pickett

Why did the Goths feel that it was necessary to move on from their 2022 #1 draft choice, quarterback Kenny Pickett?
Report: Steelers traded Kenny Pickett because he was unhappy with the signing of Russell Wilson By Mike Florio Published March 17, 2024 10:29 PM The Steelers drafted quarterback Kenny Pickett two years ago in part because they knew him well from his time at Pitt. Maybe they didn’t know him well enough.
They didn’t know he wouldn’t take getting benched well, or that he’d bristle at the signing of another potential starting quarterback.
Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette recently reported that the Steelers traded Pickett to the Eagles “because of his behavior and expressed unhappiness over the arrival” of Russell Wilson.
Per Dulac, Pickett canceled an out-of-town workout with Steelers receivers the day after Wilson agreed to sign with the Steelers.
Dulac also points to Pickett’s allegedly “petulant behavior” late last season, after he returned from ankle surgery but was not restored as the starter. Mason Rudolph kept the job instead.
“It all came to a head in Week 17 in Seattle when he refused to dress as the emergency third quarterback,” Dulac writes.
So Pickett goes from being in competition with Wilson to start to being No. 2, at best, behind Jalen Hurts in Philadelphia.
Obviously, if Pickett had played better in 24 starts over two seasons, the Steelers wouldn’t have moved on. They tend to be patient, especially with quarterbacks taken in round one.
As coach Mike Tomlin always says, he wants volunteers not hostages (a tip of the hat to Tripps Tomlin for that line!).
Pickett apparently didn’t want to be there. Tomlin and the Steelers apparently decided not to force it.
Pickett now embarks on the backup phase of his career, two seasons after it started. Time will tell whether he shows enough in Philly to get a chance to play elsewhere. He’ll need to outgrow whatever attitude problems caused the Steelers not only to find a potentially better option but also to unload him.
