IMO, another wasted pick by BB. He does not really have a good history of drafting dbs.

I'll give Jones time he looks like a good nickel type. I prefer an outside guy that early in the draft and not a nickel guy but he was a good player at Ala so lets see what he can do. But if I hear he's a PR and that's why he was picked.... You don't pick a PR in the 2nd. It's a nice bonus but that shouldn't even be on the radar when discussion why he was picked on the 2nd

Ah....the Nickle, as useless as a penny but bigger, heavier and more annoying.

Not a fan of this pick. Seems like a reach for a slot corner. QB in the 3rd that needs lots of help. Very odd. Could have used more "trench" type players in hopes you found a starter.

Cyrus Jones was far and away the best PR in this years draft. Lets not forget that part of his game. And, no offense Bubba, but I will take BB's knowledge of the player over yours, mine, or any other poster here.

Yeah, I'm not digging this draft. I don't love the Jones pick as I would like to see a bigger CB but I don't hate it either. Jones is good, he is aggressive and he tackles well. I think it's a safe pick, I think he has some good up side.
I don't know anything about Thuney but I hear and read that he is smart and can play multiple positions. I hope this guy works out.

Once you get to the lower part of the second round, you're never looking at sure bets. I tend to think Jones is a pretty good gamble, though I think it's impossible to know . . . even if you're a professional scout.

Jones is 197 pounds, how is that underweight for a CB? He's 5-10 197, and people are acting like he's 5-8 175.

The Cyrus Jones pick could be final straw for Danny Amendola. If they have a reliable and dangerous punt returner that makes DA even more expendable.
On the other hand, I'll be surprised if BB let let's a rookie handle the all important role of returning punts.

I watch every Alabama game and have for years. Loved the hightower pick a few years ago. Jones is a solid corner IMO , tough, fast, and made some big plays in key moments. He's an excellent punt returner too. This is far from a Tavon Wilson or Ras Dowling picks, he will play.
On a side note the receiver they picked from GA is good. I remember him from when we played GA .

Jones looks like he has quick feet to both react to WRs making a move and to make his own moves with the football (interceptions and PRs). He showed explosive return ability (interceptions and PR) for a college player. Will it translate? He does have good clock speed and quickness so I would think it is a fair gamble. ANd yes he comes from a defensive system that has translated to the pros - Hightower is only one good example.
I think it is a little foolish to think this a bad pick based on size or based on your own opinion on whether BB drafts any particular position well. If that were the criteria you would limit the players picked to just certain positions to the detriment of the team and limit to just "big" players. That would mean, for example, no Malcolm Butler and no SB ring last year. That seems like a foolish set of standards then doesn't it?
And PS - 5-10 is not 5-8 and 197 is not 180.

STs are critical We lost games last year on them -shockingly CBs are then not tasll Revis wasnt
This means je doesnt have to PR Da too
He is an elite PRer He can play in the slot , which is ever more important
With pick 60 I am okay good with him

www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTCLkT3Nk5k#t=139.170748 www.youtube.com/watch?v=vERc5qrWeM8
On the second video, he had a PR for TD and one INT. Otherwise he was giving up long receptions all day.
Also, I'd rather have a bigger nickel, given how TEs are used now and how big WRs are now. The idea of the small nickel I think has past.

This was a very solid pick as where Thuney and Malcolm Mitchell.
I'm not crazy about Bissett, and they took guys with upside in later rounds,
UDFAs: Steven Scheu TE Vanderbilt DJ Foster RB/WR Arizona State V’Angelo Bentley CB Illinois Cre’Von LeBlanc CB Florida Atlantic CJ Johnson LB Mississippi State Jonathan Jones CB Auburn
Jonathan Jones was projected to go in the 4th or 5th round.
It's about building a roster not taking sexy names people know.

I'm liking the OL pick but the rest looks pretty dismal.
