Get used to it.
This is my prediction.

I just read that some of the Patriot players believe it is happening too.

Sham comes back I'm throwing something at my TV and not watching... I believe Belichick has a deal with him plus he is too cheap to go after these other guys.

Yuck... unless they’re plan is to hopefully win 3-4 games next year to get a really high pick, i hate this possibility

Some people are putting too much stock in passing comments on a podcast. This is my prediction.

So 2021 is the year we tank for the top pick. Got it!

So 2021 is the year we tank for the top pick. Got it! Yeah, I don't think this rebuild is over yet. That is another reason I think Cam is back. It's probably the same reason Stafford said HAIL NO! to coming here.

How does a young QB in the draft help him?

Disclaimer in the thread title to denote it's a prediction is highly advised.
You probably gave about half the board a near heart attack.
If Cam comes back, I'll bet good money it's in conjunction with a 1st round or high 2nd round QB pick (Lance, Jones, Trask).

If he thinks he can get back to the Bowl it isn't thru drafting a QB. That will take more years than he has left!

I at least asked whose head would explode first, but I read the same as you. I also guessed previously that Bill will re-sign Cam. He was a lot better than fans on this board gave him credit for. 20 tds 10 picks with the absolute worst receiving and TE guys in the NFL. New system, came down with covid etc...

Sign Cam and covert him to a RB then use him on end a rounds with occasional we pass. It’s all he’s good for

That is a Fox News assessment. Fair and balanced. LOl. He really did though. The only way he isn't back is that he doesn't want to be. I think Uncle Bill is really grateful for him bailing him out last season. It WOULD have been worse without Cam. We should all be grateful we didn't have to watch Hoyer all year!

Cam could work if you could build properly around him. Great running game, a star wideout to stretch the field, a slot receiver that can get open for easy yards, a TE that can dominate against LB's. That's a tall ask though. But, so is getting a blue chip QB, so we'll just have to wait and see what happens. I'm not going to have a heart attack if Cam comes back. I will however have a heart attack if the offense isn't significantly built up around him. Not even Tom could have done much with what Cam was working with this year.

Yuck... unless they’re plan is to hopefully win 3-4 games next year to get a really high pick, i hate this possibility well BB isn't sharing his innermost thoughts with me (or anyone who actually covers the team for that matter), but here's where I think the grains of truth in this story are:
1. BB doesn't want to dedicate a sizeable chunk of his cap to the QB position right now, for multiple reasons. He wants to get "value" for the position.
2. BB doesn't want to coach what he perceives as divas. He loved Cam's team-first attitude and demeanor. I think he found Brady's expectant attitude towards the end tedious/high maintenance, and doesn't want to relive that with another QB right now.
Since Cam didn't finish the season on a stellar note, Cam still has a depressed value. Therefore, Cam qualifies on both counts, and could likely be signed on a cheap contract (recall that many thought after one year with the Pats rehabbing his career, Cam would then sign a big contract with a new team. However, that didn't happen, so he could sign with the Pats on the cheap again). However if BB brought Cam back I don't believe he'd be handed the starting job, I believe he'd have to compete in camp with whoever else was there, much more so than it was last season.
Don't get me wrong, I think BB would love an even better QB than Cam if he can get one in his price range. Example: if he can get Jimmy G on a team friendly deal, I'm sure that would be his preference over Cam.
I don't happen to agree with how BB is going about the QB position, but: two things. 1: he could surprise me and spend real money or draft capital on the position. Then I'd just be wrong. and 2: I think BB has certainly earned the right to do this his way and see if it will work. I just happen to think in today's NFL you have to cater to QBs more than I suspect he wants to. We'll see.
One thing I do know: BB has no interest in tanking. He'll try to win as many games as he can with whoever is on the roster. I can definitely see another 7 win season next year but a 4 win season - I don't think he'd stand for it and he's too good a coach for it to happen.

Ok. So I am not the only one reading the terrain. All I hear on TV and the radio is the emotional preferences about the situation. Belichick has to be looking for the quickest possible rebuild. A 1st round QB is not the likely answer.

What exactly does Cam have going for him besides being a 'team' first guy and can be had for cheap? There's a reason he can be had for cheap and we were all witness to it this season. He can't pass no matter who you put around him. He's done.

If he’s learned how to identify pre- snap reads, developed a feel for backside pressure in the pocket, worked on and improved his footwork in the pocket and changed his throwing motion I’m all in on Cam.
