I can watch the butt fumble clip 100 times and still get a kick out of it. Then I think that this guy could be the Donko's starting QB and I start laughing all over again.

They are still making Fitzy sweat it out... Near the cap, they can't or don't want to sign him, one way or the other it will be a mistake, as the season goes on. Last year they played weak pass defenses overall. This year they are scheduled to face better pass Ds overall. Fitzpatrick may be there best bet at QB but he will not be as effective and they will be tossing money away. They will need a better D than last year and a better running attack to get to the same record.

We need to be able to put a poll within a thread! How else will we add a poll here to vote on the "best" draft pick eva by the Jets? Gholston is just a more recent version of some of the boneheads they have picked high. Remember Richard Todd? and there have been worse.

Jets QBs during their first 5 years:
1964 Dick Wood (13) / Pete Liske (1) 1963 Dick Wood (12) / Galen Hall (2) 1962 Johnny Green (8) / Lee Grosscup (4) / Butch Songin (2) 1961 Al Dorow (14) 1960 Al Dorow (13) / Dick Jamieson (1)
What a group! The current roster fits right in. Maybe if they sign Fitz they will move up into the 1992 group:
1992 Browning Nagle (13) / Ken O'Brien (3)

Very True. ANd the Pats have had their share of bad. Most of the first 15 years were pretty bad; some of it downright horrible. 1970 for example. But we grew out of that. The Jets.... they had one year and that year they caught a far better team over confident, not prepared gameplan wise (especially on D) and with their HOF QB hurt and so did not start. Other than that one year and that one game they are forever The Jests.

Well those wacky and lovable Jets are already planning on owning the AFC East with Tom Brady's suspension. It does give you a clue on why Brady's suspension was considered important for the rest of the league.
Jets’ Eric Decker thinks Tom Brady’s suspension leaves AFC East ‘up for grabs’
"By Hayden Bird May 19, 2016 New York Jets wide receiver Eric Decker sees an opportunity.
In a recent interview on NFL Network’s Total Access, Decker shared his assessment of the state of the AFC East now that New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is again facing a four-game suspension.
“You gotta win your division games,” said Decker. “With Brady being suspended four games, I think it makes the division up for grabs.”
The Patriots have finished atop the AFC East for seven straight seasons and won 13 of the last 15 division crowns.
Brady has until May 23 to appeal the decision of the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan that reinstated his Deflategate punishment. The Patriots could be without him for the first four games of the 2016 season, a stretch including division games against the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills."

So, if brady misses 25% of the season the AFCE "is up for grabs". What if he does play? Is Decker admitting they have no chance to win the AFCE? If Brady does play the entire season do the Jests just give up now? Decker is a perfect Jet, he fits right in with that winning attitude.

Going from a 4th place to 2nd place schedule will have it's consequences. Jets brain trust(?) appears to be looking toward 2017.

Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has stopped talking to his former teammatesBy Rich Hill Is this the end of the Jets, ahem, dynasty? New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has to be giggling at this news, or at least partially responsible: The New York Jets have been trying to sign back 2015 starting QB Ryan Fitzpatrick this entire offseason. Fitzpatrick has stopped returning messages to his teammates, showing how far apart the two sides have become from a new deal. “I don’t know what’s going on,” Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall said on Michael Rapaport’s “IAM RAPAPORT” podcast, via the NY Daily News. “To be honest, me and Fitz talk every day, all the time, but I texted him the last two weeks three times and there’s no response. The only thing that he can do to make this right is to say he was on vacation, ‘I was out of the country.’ It’s not like him. It’s scaring me right now. It’s scaring me that my guy hasn’t texted me back.” The Jets have offered Fitzpatrick a 3-year, $24 million deal, which makes him the starter in 2016 and then the back-up for 2017 and 2018. Fitzpatrick would be okay with a one-year deal at $12 million to hit free agency after this season. The two sides are not close, but the recent signing of DL Muhammad Wilkerson should have opened up enough cap space to bring back Fitzpatrick. The Jets were the Patriots top competition in 2015, but they also featured one of the oldest rosters in the entire league. They have made an effort to get younger, but they need a competent quarterback like Fitzpatrick if they are going to compete before stars like CB Darrelle Revis, C Nick Mangold, RB Matt Forte, and Marshall retire. It’s not looking good. If the Jets don’t come together in 2016, their theoretical window is likely over before it ever opened. They will never get a better opportunity, especially with Patriots QB Tom Brady suspended for the first four games of the season. The Bills are likely the second best team in the division if the Jets have to field Geno Smith at quarterback. www.patspulpit.com/2016/7/19/12222232/jets-qb-ryan-fitzpatrick-has-stopped-talking-to-his-former-teammates

Their D might be solid and they have the best QB of the three teams. One key questionmark is just how good their new HC will be.

I will be completely in shock if they sign him for 4 games. I think BB rolls the dice with the two young guns that he has, and Edelman would be emergency #3? I would MUCH rather have JG who has 2 full seasons with this offense than Fitz any day.
