The flip side of paying gazillions for Revis (great player, but not worth quite that much) and then paying $85m for Muhammad Wilkerson (same) is that the Jets have to play an entire season without a quarterback. Geno Smith is famous for running backwards and then getting tackled way back there. The new QB draft choice, Hindenberg, is reportedly beyond awful so we'll ignore him for now.
I could play quarterback for the Jets, maybe with a clothespin on my nose, but I don't know if they could pay me $10/hour.

I say "Let Geno Do IT!"....that should be their rallying cry this season ......he's worth about $10/hour! I wonder which rookie will punch him in the face and break his jaw this year!

Funny read:
Jets hope to model four quarterback approach that launched Tom Brady and Patriots dynasty Manish Mehta
Resident evil genius Bill Belichick has been a persistent source of annoyance and frustration for the Jets for the better part of two decades. He’s a hoodie-wearing boogeyman. On most Sundays, this monster cannot be stopped.
The Jets have tried just about everything. Just about everything has failed.
If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan is about to make this heartfelt declaration: If you can’t beat him, copy him… so that maybe you can beat him one day. Maccagnan has made it clear that he’s not averse to carrying four quarterbacks this season in the wake of Christian Hackenberg's arrival. Although the Jets technically only have three signal callers (Geno Smith, Bryce Petty and Hackenberg) currently in the fold, Ryan Fitzpatrick's return would complete the quartet.
It’s a curious strategy for myriad reasons, but the Jets believe that they can duplicate the 2000 Patriots quarterback model that helped launch a dynasty. The organization has had discussions about the benefits of that Patriots’ plan to carry four quarterbacks in Belichick’s first season.
Belichick kept Drew Bledsoe, John Friesz, Michael Bishop and some sixth-round rookie named Tom Brady in 2000.
It was a shrewd move by Belichick, who inherited an 8-8 team with salary cap issues, to keep four signal-callers rather than take the chance of passing Brady through waivers to get him back on the practice squad. That decision altered the course of NFL history, which hasn’t been lost on these Jets.
The circumstances between the 2000 Patriots and 2016 Jets aren’t identical, which makes it dubious for Todd Bowles’ team to adopt the New England model from yesteryear.
Belichick entered 2000 with no expectations of making the playoffs. They didn’t have a first-round pick after Belichick’s “HC of the NYJ” fiasco forced the Patriots to give up premium draft compensation to hire him in the first place.
The Patriots slashed payroll and gutted the roster, so carrying a fourth quarterback wasn’t a significant sacrifice.
The Jets were a whisker away from making the playoffs last season. Maccagnan has an aging core of difference makers, who should be expected to make a playoff push this season.
“It doesn’t make sense,” one front office executive said of the Jets carrying four quarterbacks this season.
No, it doesn’t. Not for this team.
Brady was active for only two games (and attempted only three passes) as a rookie. The Patriots were 2-8 before Belichick decided to place Brady on the then 45-man game-day roster for the first time in Week 12.
Drew Bledsoe was the clear-cut starter. Bishop, a second-year seventh-round pick, was active for 11 games. Friesz, a 33-year-old journeyman, was active for six games. The Patriots finished 5-11.
The Jets’ dynamic is different. Maccagnan has invested second- and fourth-round picks in the past two years, a heftier price than the Patriots’ sixth- and seventh-round fliers on Brady and Bishop. Petty and Hackenberg simply won’t get adequate practice reps during training camp with four quarterbacks on the roster.
Maccagnan repeatedly has said that he likes Smith, which is about as believable as Donald Trump’s tribute to Ted Cruz earlier this week. Maccagnan’s actions in the past two drafts are a clear indication that the Jets don’t believe that the mercurial Smith is the answer. The organization thinks that Smith can be a competent backup. Nothing more.
So, why would Smith be on the roster if Fitzpatrick returns?
“Maybe Geno can save the franchise!” one NFC coach said, dripping with sarcasm.
Although Smith theoretically is more prepared to win a game or two if Fitzpatrick misses some time due to injury, is that worth keeping him on the roster all season? Smith, entering the final year of his rookie contract, is not part of the Jets’ future plans.
The only thing that he proved last year upon entering a game early after Fitzpatrick left with a bum thumb was that he can tease us. Smith made some nice throws before a questionable decision to lower (and injure) his shoulder rather than run out of bounds during a scramble down the sideline.
Drew Bledsoe was the clear-cut starter when Tom Brady (l.) was a rookie, but Bill Belichick didn’t want to expose the future MVP to the waiver wire so he carried four quarterbacks that season.
Smith would be a passable bridge quarterback if Fitzpatrick didn’t return. Otherwise, he should be expendable. If Fitzpatrick misses significant time due to injury this season, the Jets’ playoff chances are likely over. At that point, Bowles is better off turning to Petty and/or Hackenberg to gauge what he has in his young arms.
Petty and Hackenberg need to maximize their practice reps during training camp. It’s difficult enough for the No. 3 signal caller to get meaningful snaps in camp. It’s virtually impossible for a fourth to get any real work in team drills during the summer. Smith, frankly, will be taking important developmental time away from them.
The Jets, however, insist that the four-quarterback plan could work. Ask Belichick, who hasn’t had a losing record since Brady’s rookie season. The Patriots’ dynasty was born thanks to an unconventional move like that.
That was an aberration. Just don’t tell the Jets that.

Maybe the Jets should do one better than BB and keep 5 QBs. Who would ever guess finding a franchise QB is so simple, you just keep 4 or 5 QB's instead of 2 or 3. Its that simple. Lol Seriously, Joe Namath could come out of retirement and probably beat the current crop of crap on their roster and be named the starter.

Jets carry Brandon Marshall off the field after he swings at Darrelle Revis
Thursday's most notable training camp fight, which concluded with Michael Bennett getting tossed from Seahawks practice by Pete Carroll, was topped by Friday's best incident. On Friday, Jets receiver Brandon Marshall was literally picked up and carried off the field. Again, literally carried off the field. With good reason: Marshall apparently took a swing at Darrelle Revis. "Marshall was on the sideline and walked over to Revis, who was on the field," ESPN's Rich Cimini reported. "They exchanged words and Marshall threw a punch with his right hand. They were quickly separated. Quincy Enunwa literally picked up Marshall and carried him away. Marshall had been jawing at Revis throughout the practice.
According to Cimini, Marshall was clearly the instigator. "Revis got the best of him early, then Marshall beat him for a long TD, trash talking Revis," Cimini wrote. "After the brief scuffle, Marshall yelled a DeAndre Hopkins comment at Revis, reminding the corner of his struggles last season against the Houston receiver -- a low blow. Marshall wouldn't shut up, screaming at Revis when he was on the sideline."
Afterwards, Marshall said the fight really started when Revis slapped him during one-on-one drills, according to Jets senior reporter Eric Allen. Marshall also said he took issue with some of Revis' trash talk. He added that they're OK now, per NFL Network's Kimberly Jones. Jets coach Todd Bowles also didn't make a big deal out of the scuffle, as he shouldn't. Training camp fights occur rather frequently. And no, we probably shouldn't connect this incident into the one that ended with Geno Smith in the hospital last summer. One of these incidents is something that happens across the league on a weekly basis, the other incident (a teammate getting sucker-punched away from the field) almost never happens. This is entertainment -- not a sign that the Jets are about to implode from the inside out -- which is why it's beyond disappointing to learn that there's no video footage of Marshall getting picked up and carried off the field.

LADAINIAN TOMLINSON THINKS THIS CAN BE THE YEAR JETS OVERTAKE PATRIOTS 08.07.16 By Christopher Price
LaDainian Tomlinson says that this could be the year that another AFC East team surpasses the Patriots. The former Jets and Chargers running back told ESPN that if quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick can play the same way he did last year, this could be New York’s year.
“If there’s ever a year to knock off the Patriots, it has to be this year for the Jets or for somebody else to win this division,” Tomlinson said. “It has to be the Jets. When you think about it, they have enough experience on both sides of the ball. If Ryan [Fitzpatrick] can play at the level he played last year — and maybe just a little bit more — they should do it. They should do it. He’s had his best years under [offensive coordinator] Chan Gailey. That’s why I’m so optimistic.”
The Patriots have won the the last seven division titles, and 12 of the last 13.
^LOL!!

I only bumped this because the Jets just placed Eric Decker on IR. They are in a real tough spot right now with their QB and Secondary and they have to travel to Arizona for a Monday night game.

I wish the NFL would introduce an optional Laugh Track for games. I would use it for Jets games.
Really, they have good players. Most of them deserve respect. But as a team, they should cut their head off.

One way or the other. Don't disrespect fits after he set Jet franchise record of 31 TD's last year...

As soon as I saw this post, I couldn't get Yakety Sax (which you may know as the theme music from The Benny Hill Show) out of my head. Some enterprising video editor should get busy on a Jests compilation set to this music. Instant classic!
