If teams are competing for #3 its because they want a QB we should be selecting.

If teams are competing for #3 its because they want a QB we should be selecting. Or their choice of the top wr and they figure it’s the lowest cost to jump to 3 vs 2 or 1 and move ahead of Arizona.

If teams are competing for #3 its because they want a QB we should be selecting. Five teams hoping to get a QB? Or five teams trying to get top 3 QB? Would those teams still pick a QB if not a top 3 QB?

The trade return is based on how far back they move. If they only move back a couple spots the return value is a high 2nd round pick. Which is perfect in my opinion unless they want Drake Maye and he’s sitting there at 3.

Trade away…it would make the 2024 draft a lot of fun…but if trade is made, QB plan is a must..or your stuck with zippy I; 2025.. worst case #3 QB turns into a star… if so, let the complaining begin,..

The pats are a bottom three team. They don't need to be silly and turn away great value deals. To me. It would seem they could make the trade with the cardinals who want a wr for pick 4, and then potentially take a slightly modified giants deal at 6 who want one of the top 4 qb's. With the chargers wanting a non qb, the pats would potentially added several additional draft assets and still get one if the top 4 qb's, admittedly they wouldn't get to chose which. If they didn't like that guy left, they would probably take Alt, and then combine some of those assets to move up back into the 20's and tale nix or penix if they like either of them. It just makes too much sense for the pats with all of their needs.

When you NEED a quality QB, trading down out of #3 should be the LAST thing on your mind. Build back incrementally (annually). No Hail Mary plays. Just my opinion.

The defense was (last year) atop 10 defense and if you take out the points scored as a result of pick 6’s and fumble recoveries they were top 6 or 7.. so far additions have been made replacing Parker and gesecki, got a RB that is an improvement on Zeke (although he was decent). Talking heads have beaten a dead horse indiscussing the need for a # 1 wr.. when was the last time a pats had a #1 .id say 2007 Moss. But I could be wrong. Lastly OT is an issue and I am not getting concerned until Mini camp as there are short term solutions already and more cuts to come giving pats more to look at . I think they missed on Jonah Williams. Lastly a QB, 2 wrs..2 tackles , TE, RB CB, plus non drafted players… Need to relax and see the team building begin.

It goes without saying if your experts are sold on one of the qb's then you take every reasonable step to get him. All these trade down options are if you either 1) are not sold on one of the top 4...or 2) you are convinced you can trade down and still get your guy. (Think jason Tatum for the c's. If Philly wants to give the c's a pick and still let them get your man why not).

Just make the NFL version of Robert Parrish and Kevin McHale for the right to select Joe Barry Carroll kind of trade. Easy-peasy...

Isn’t it a swap of 1st rd pick and then adding 2 1sts and a 3rd..? Can we live with zappy for 2 years hoping a QB comes available.? Or are you forced to give up 2 firsts next year to get a QB if any are any good?

Brissett will be the guy next year until whoever they draft takes the job from him.

The more and more people(experts, radio/tv talking heads/fans) so flippantly are throwing out trading out of #3 to (usually the Vikings) but I am now at a tipping point where I don’t feel that’s enough at all. The Vikings want #3, prove its value to them. I want #11, #23, 2025 First, 2025 3rd, 2026 1st at minimum.
You’re not gonna guarantee to ever be in the top 3 of the draft again, you’re not gonna guarantee this amount of high level QB prospect to be available and have 2 out of the 4 to choose from at 3 overall.
My new floor is “show me the money!” it’s “put up or shut up” it’s “cut the bullshit and prove it.” If a team wants #3 so bad and think one of these QBs is a must have to launch their franchise into success for years to come, you’re gonna have to pay a HUGE premium.

To me, I think its actually pretty simple: if the Pats think one or both of Maye/Daniels is a top 5 QB in the making then no offer given to them for 3 would be enough to move down. You just can't pass on that chance. As others have said here, you don't know when you'll be in this position again. Even if the roster isn't ready for the QB, sit him a year and let the roster grow more before springing him out there in 2025.
If they don't feel that way, or only one of Maye/Daniels is worth the pick and that guy goes to Washington, then the floor is the 49ers-Dolphins trade. In this case, I would ask for a little more on top of that since Maye and Daniels seem like more sure things than Trey Lance was when he was coming out of college. So for me, its the team's 2024 1st and 2nd rounders, 2025 1st, and a 2026 1st to get me to consider moving down.

But if you arent convicted enough that a QB available at 3 is the guy, then you should seriously look into trading down from 3 FOR A HUGE HAUL...otherwise stay there and take BPA (which you should be doing with every pick)

I am in the same boat as you guys, I just don’t think that 11, 23 and a 2025 1st is enough of a haul, make the Vikings pay for it if that’s the pick they want. The difference between the draft haul the 49ers gave up for Trey Lance (for example) versus what Minny is potentially offering this season is two firsts this year... there's value in those two picks coming now in 2024 and not having to wait. But if the Patriots think Drake Maye/McCarthy/Daniels is the guy... there's no trade value worth it. The Pats are desperate for a QB and there are usually only a couple of those guys in each draft class, like field goal kickers. If you need one, you need one and can't get one any other way.
