Transition tag was a smart move, the market set the price and New England was safe in protecting themselves from losing the player.

Great news! Very good player and I think he’s a valuable guy in the locker room. I’ll look forward to seeing the contract details, and the accurate ones. It will probably takes several days for real numbers to emerge. But we know one thing, rkarp will declare this an awful signing that will cripple NE’s cap.

One of my favorite current Pats on D. As wazzu alluded to, devil's in the details but I truly am glad they locked him up another 4 years.

glad he has extended we were reading about some unrest from him about the tag and the depressed S market. have to await the actual numbers, but even if an over pay, Dugger (and Onwenu) were players the team needed to send messages on. 2 nice players in the fold. well done by the new management team

Told ya. If it were the jets it would be the greatest bargain in the history of team sports. Hilarious.

4 years. $58m. $32.5 m guaranteed. most likely agent leaked details. have to wait on the actual numbers. most of the Pats deals this offseason have been incentivized. will be interesting to see how Dugger's deal plays out

I do trust Mayo and the defensive staff to correct this and get Dugger back to his higher production/efficiency from previous years.

Sources are telling me that the COLLABORATION CREW is doing a good job so far.

Sources are telling me that the COLLABORATION CREW is doing a good job so far. Elliot Wolff is doing a good job so far. We’ll see how he does with the draft. Mayo’s job is to coach this team to wins. We’ll judge him once the season gets underway.

Seems like they're doing a good job signing their own. You know, the players that other GM (now fired) and his team picked. And they got rid of the guy Kraft picked (Mac).
Not so great in FA so far and what they do in the draft is to be determined.

Sources are telling me that the COLLABORATION CREW is doing a good job so far. They still need a left tackle, shouldn't wait for the draft and Chuka is not the answer. But I like that they've brought back all our own F/A's. For a guy who sucked at team building the former GM of the Pats sure had a lot of talent.

He only lost his job because he had the balls to criticize his coaches.

Not their fault. Who is the QB? Who is the GM? Big factors in drawing FA.

I think they have confidence in Chuka. He only lost his job because he had the balls to criticize his coaches. The Steeler's line was terrible in terms of talent, Chuka wasn't good. Hell we traded them the first for his replacement. Even if he didn't let up a lot of sacks, long arms, he doesn't move the needle in the run game. He's got a really wide wingspan but he's an "average" NFL athlete at the position... being generous. I see Vederian Lowe, maybe a slightly better technician. I could be wrong. Andrus Peat is long and a great athlete, pay that guy because the rest of the good ones are ancient and injury prone.

2022 Steelers rank:
10th in rush attempts., 25th in rush yards per attempt, 16th in total rushing yards. Bad. 13th in sack percentage, for a team that passed the 17th fewest in the NFL. Bad. They weren't good at pass blocking, they had two great RB's and weren't good at running. There was a reason everyone knew the Steelers were drafting an OT with the #1 overall pick last draft before it happened.

He did his job well. Edit: Did you blame Paul Pierce when his sucky teams didn't play well?

Nice that he is signed and likely his actual 3 year deal (the part that eats up his guaranteed salary and 3/4 of his signing bonus) is going to come in cheaper - and the 4th year will also be cheaper proportionally to the rise in total cap. Right now on this report he is around #6 in APY for safeties.
I agree Wozzy - upgrading at LT before the draft would have been a high priority for me - even a one year price tag that disappears in 2025 would allow them to draft a high talent project rather than needing to find an immediate starter in the draft, something that is hard to do outside of the 1st round.

The new OL coach spent the last 4 years playing the Steelers twice a year. I'd imagine that in a collaborative environment his professional opinion would carry weight. I'm giving the pro's the benefit of the doubt regarding Chuka. Within any plan, the pieces rarely happen in order of importance.
I usually don't bite on your inside jabs at other posters but 4-13, a bargain basement collection of oft injured OLmen (to protect a young QB no less) and a joke of an offensive coaching staff does not bring to mind strong team building. Despite the fact that BB was the GOAT coach for almost 20 years...it was time.

I am also fine with #6 in APY for safeties. his deal also most likely lowers his cap hit this season. will see what the actual numbers say. I like the message the team is sending for signing their own. I am actually surprised they lost Bryant for such a low deal. I liked him for a versatile depth piece and ST play. makes getting a CB in the draft or as a priority UDFA sign more pressing
