McCourty was one of the highest paid free safeties for about a decade. Great players got paid, they just didn’t get overpaid. The haters also said BB made a mistake not making JC Jackson one of the highest paid CB’s in the NFL, others said he made a mistake paying Stefon Gilmore instead of Malcolm Butler because Stef had a bad PFF grade. Overpaying is dumb, it leads you to let great players walk further down the road… the cap exists, it’s not crap. Like letting Thuney , Law, Seymour, tra I’d have liked to see Thuney retained as well. Pretty sure Seymour was traded to the Raiders for the pick that became our current head coach I don’t recall the circumstances regarding Ty Law.

Like letting Thuney , Law, Seymour, trading guards after them…overpaying juju after letting a homegrown receiver go over a million dollars…there’s a lot more! Bb ..great HC …less than good GM…None a hater, just a frustrated fan Thuney got overpaid, he got replaced with Onwenu in the 6th round… pretty good replacement. Seymour became the highest paid DT in Oakland. The Patriots drafted and paid Ty Warren to replace him, instantly he suffered a hip injury that ended his career. They were on the hook for that money and cap debt. Something very similar happened with Ty Laws replacement in Leigh Bodden. I don’t know any GM in the league that can predict career ending injury… because they can’t. The league has no cap forgiveness program for debilitating injuries. NE overpaid Juju? Here’s his salary for the last three years: Steelers 2021: 8M Chiefs in 2022: 9.2M Patriots 2023: 9.6M Nah, he got paid his annual salary plus inflation. It took him some time to get back up to speed, he’ll be much better going forward with a better QB. Mac sucked.

They had a plan and the universe had other ideas. That’s why we had to watch Kyle Love play next to Wilfork for years, not because BB didn’t plan ahead.
