I was wondering if/when the Pats were going to bring in some competition for Rhyland. Slye seems legit. Rhyland on the bubble. I still like his leg, and how he stood up to the media when he struggled last season. kick offs again will be important for field position. Slye may have the leg up in this battle.
Rhyland and Rohrwasser seemingly not up to the task of following the tradition of AdamV, Ghost and Folk.

Good addition. Slye has been a good kicker for a while in this league. Put up or shut up time for Chad now. Guessing slye will be our kicker week 1

Leg strength is fine, but the ball has to go through the uprights. Folk doesn’t have the strongest leg, but his reliability is more valuable. Hope they’ve learned the lesson.

What is the goal for the kicker with the new rules? Kick it as deep as possible? Drop it right at the goal line? Put it between the 5-10 and let your cover team get there?

On his 5th team in 6 years. Not very inspiring.

If you boot it into the EZ it goes to the 30. So, you have to land it in the field of play (unless you're okay with the 30). I say bring back Folk if that's the case. Also, I think if it lands short of the 20 it gets placed at the 40. Something like that. The in-play zone is between the 20 and the goal line.

This is no defense of Rhyland, he was pretty bad last year. Vinateri was almost cut after his first year and Ghost struggled his first year. If Rhyland has a decent camp and pre-season I would be okay giving him 3-4 games to start the season. They aren’t winning next year so a mini type tryout at the beginning of the year wouldn’t bother me.

Slye looks like he has just as strong a leg, and obviously game experience/confidence.

Slye is a good player to bring in to push Ryland… similar to Folk but with a stronger leg. He hasn’t been consistent, but when he’s “on” he has been solid.
There’s no BB here to pressure the kicker in practice and build confidence, let’s see what the collaboration station can do as coaches.
