while I am not saying that all the credit go to BB, this staff, when talking about best in business, is really the best at reading the market for a players value. not sayng they are 100%, but pretty close. glad High is coming back, and glad the Pats had the balls to allow him to explore the market for self worth. sorta agree but the jets offered over 12 million so in this case lucky Hightower wasn't all about the money.

Now we need to sign Butler and Blount and we are set. Butler will be gone to NO and Pats signed Burkhead with starters salary or at very least compete for it Butler is in a corner. If NO wants him, they will need to surrender the #11 pick or the #32 with two others, and that is unlikely and is probably why Butler hasn't been traded yet. Burkhead is not the power runner that Blount is. Signing him is nice, but a power back is an important cog in the offense. I would not rule out Blount returning.

And I guess this is why they didn't extend him as we all wanted. HT's valuation of himself differed from BB's and BB was correct. In BB I trust.

AWESOME NEWS!!!! This was the lynchpin on defense. I feel a lot better now. Would still like to get Butler back in the fold. Then we can grab some guard and tackle depth, linebacker help, and a safety/LB hybrid to complete the foundation for the next 3-5 years. To drop your team's average age while trading for veterans is quite a trick. BB continues to amaze. But Babe says he is a horrible GM. How can that be?

He got less than Collins. That had to sting him. Doubt it - there's a premium for having to play and live in Cleveland.

Of course you want to spread the credit around and remind us that it isn't all Belichick. You have called the man an "asshole" on several occasions, subtly demean and discredit him whenever you think you can slip it past us (as you pretend to be a real Pats fan) oh, and YOU THINK THE PATRIOTS CHEATED IN FRAMEGATE AND THAT BELICHICK LIED, COVERED IT UP AND PAID PEOPLE OFF. Go away rkarp, you're a joke and a closet Jets fan or at least not a true Pats fan. Everyone here knows an entire staff is to credit for moves like this. You think this team illegally deflated footballs in a scheme that went all the way to the top when science and men swearing under oath proved nothing happened. You are garbage.

The interest out there wasn't as great as some might have feared. Now if Butler finds similar tepid offers...

Good news. He's really the key to the defense and a leader. Can't have too many of those guys.
The Butler watch continues....

That the Pats read the market correctly, and made a fair offer. Maybe Butler wants out as his feelings are hurt, but I find no fault in how the Pats handled the Butler contract situation.

Let the Saints work a deal for Malcolm, if reasonable, Pats should match it and bring Mal back a happy camper. If it is more than 3 yrs 30 Mill (Logan Ryan $) let him go and get #32 back, maybe another 3rd round this year or next. TB, u should know that no one can read BB in any situation. Also, JG could still go to Brownies.

Great news for High and the team! It's always anxiety producing to allow the market to determine value and trust someone will return to their roots if value at home is equal. It takes courage and trust on the Pats part to operate this way and I'm proud they acted respectfully of High.

Another day, another signing. I guess when a team starts out with $60 million that they have to either spend or lose, fireworks are about to happen. How much do they still have in the piggy?
First lesson: When your team has far better perks (a wicked cool coaching staff, nice rings for the fingers, first class practice facilities) then your team doesn't want to use the transition tag, promising the player that you'll match whatever dollar offer some butt-fumble team offers. Hightower chose his slightly cheaper offer from the Patriots. If, on the other hand, you happen to be the butt-fumble team, you might want to use the transition tag.
Second lesson: Mark down any team that sends your mother a couple of Jets jerseys. Gross!

I think I'll go find a bakery and buy and eat a cupcake now.

Do you really think deflategate was anything but a vengance framejob? If you think the Patriots were bad actors, is it just a hunch or do you have evidence?
