... and your 1st overall pick had to be a current defensive player (with money not being part of the debate) who would you pick, and why?
For me, I'm kind of torn between Luke Kuechly and Aaron Donald, but I give the nod to Donald, as I believe that games are won at the LOS, and there isn't a more disruptive force up-front.

Tough call.
Luke would be my pick. Tough and smart.

Would Reggie White qualify?

Would Reggie White qualify? Only current players, but I'll creating a thread that incorporates defenders of any generation as well, as that might be the the more wide ranging discussion.

2 players that might be over looked that could be considered would be Fletcher Cox and Kwon Alexander but that being said I'll take Donald.

I would take BB. ... Oh... it has to be a player.. OK... well.. then.. I dunno. If you are starting a new team then longevity (youth) is a major consideration. If you are playing for one season or two then not so much. Watt is hurt again and I am not sure whether Donald has that level of dominance - though he clearly is excellent. LK is special. Mack is special. Von Miller is too whether we like him or not. In this league you would love to start with someone who truly makes the other team have to game plan. If there was a clear BEST cover guy then he would be on the very short list. Watt if healthy seems to be on that same very very short list.

Tough question... Do you take a dominant tackle? A pass rushing genius? A lockdown corner? A dominant middle backer? A centefielder? Or a bone crushing strong safety?
I would probably go with Khalil Mack. I could build a defense around that guy. He can play almost anywhere along the front 7. Since being drafted in 2014... - 248 tackles - 34 sacks - 8 forced fumbles - 1 INT

Mack from what I have seen. Pre injuries Watt was on pace to destroy all the defensive records though. Anyone see the stat chart they put up after Watt got hurt? Unreal production

if I was building, I'd be looking for a shutdown CB after I found a QB and LT but since we're talking current nfl players here, count me in the Donald club too. Too much talent and pass rush to pass on. He makes the secondary look that much better.
Reggie White would be my all-time pick as well.
Funny though because if I was starting out with non-current nfl, I'd still be looking for a shutdown corner first. Maybe because they're harder to find? You can pressure the QB lots of different ways with the front 7

Am going with Donald. Interior pressure would be my team's foundation.

Gotta be Donald. Mack would be a close second. And the top cb id go for would be Ramsey. Looks great so far
