always an interesting week against the Jets
-seems we most likely do not see Powell but do see Forte. I think Powell at this stage the better player, and actually preferred him over Gillislee this past off season. I do think we see the Jets, much like the Buc's throw to either Forte/Powell when Roberts is in the game, and run Forte/Powell when VanNoy is in the game. Lets hope that is not as effective as Doug Martin was Thursday night
-I would expect for the first time this season, the Pats bring a pass rush rather than flood zones against the Jets pass game. Kearse/Kerley are nice complimentary receivers, but seemingly can be covered in single coverage. McCown having to look at next tier options will turn the ball over. he also should not be able to extend much with his feet
-I expect TB to target the Jets LB's all day with either Lewis/White or Danny/Gronk singled out on one of the Jets LB's. as the Jets creep in some S support, Hogan/Cooks should see some one on one opportunities.
-for me, the keys to the game are very simple. can the Pats generate pressure with 4 rushers? can the Pats give TB time with 5 blockers? create turn overs win field position
-the situation with Solder is getting more and more worrisome. Pats managing him more than any other player I recall. Pats keeping 4 T's very telling. Will Solder finish the season? I have no issue calling out a players performance positively or negatively as I see the game, but lets loosen up a bit on the attacks on Solder. We have no idea what is going on with him, and it may be much more than "he sucks" as many proclaim. clearly he has had a ton of injuries as well as very personal issues.
-same with Cannon. When healthy, he has been very good. the guy is playing thru an ankle injury at 330 pounds, and coming off a concussion.
-I would like to see the Pats come out and commit to the run this week. reduce the hits on TB, get the OL in some type of rythm, and let the RB's carry the ball. running the ball and having the S's creep up to the LOS will only open up the field for the down field targets as the game progresses
-Thuney needs to bring his A game this week. Williams and Wilkerson a tough duo. Thuney not grading out well. perhaps it is due to playing beside a sub par Solder. but Thuney below last seasons level
-seems like Rowe is going to need a few weeks.

Fair comment on Solder. He hasn't always sucked as some claim. Then again, I've been reading that about our LT's forever. Plenty of people accused Light of the same. The guy is clearly battling through injuries. Us fans are funny. We should be commending such players but instead beat up on them when they don't play like they are healthy.

What we CAN'T see is TB trying to run for yardage again, evah. To say he is slow as a turtle is an insult to turtles everywhere. Seriously, he has to minimize hits this year and those are freebies. RBs have to absorb those hits. My observation is that those plays result from slow developing zone-read options. That is not a good look for a non-mobile QB. Or, they come after play action that fools nobody. What happened? TB used to be good at play action fakes but they don't work at all now. More practice needed? I don't know.

One problem, that is often debated, is that we telegraph our plays. They almost never run the ball unless Gillislee is in the game (i suppose someone could counter that with stats but that is what my eyes tell me). so, the 3-4 DL's can just full out rush with no worries about the Pats running the ball - it makes it a lot harder on the OL. The question still remains - why can't the OL stop the DL - but, the pats could make it harder on the defense, in my opinion.

Brady's taking way too many hits and sacks. The O-Line has to step up and protect him better.

And while I would love to see the running game start to take some of the load I dont expect it against the Jests. Their strength is DL and we get mismatches against their coverage.... the key remains pass blocking. But I hope you are right if we can in fact make an impact running the ball. IF SO IT WILL LIKELY BE LEWIS WHO MAKES THE DIFFERENCE
