The Green Bay Packers' season got leveled for 2017, when star QB Aaron Rodgers suffered a broken collarbone in the first quarter of their game against the Vikings. Rodgers is out for the season and, not surprisingly, the Packers are about to lose to Minnesota.

On the throwing side too. At least two years before he goes back to normal. He'd be 35 then. So much for challenging TB for the GOAT.

They are playing Lions, Saints, Bucs, Steelers in the next 5-6 games. Dont think they can beat these teams without AR.

It's not just Rodgers, they lost several guys the last couple weeks. Wonder if they might trade Bennett back to the Pats? Nah. But that said, I don't know where folks are getting it's season ending or something that's going to set him back for years? It's a collarbone, not really that serious of an injury. It will heal.

Whenever the talking heads gush over a player in September and October, crap happens.

football is a collision sport, but season-ending injuries are always a sad thing ... hit looked a little late as well

Can he even practice until it heals?

I can’t see Romo deciding to head out of retirement and go play behind that oline. Rodgers has been taking a lot of hits as it is, put Romo behind there and there’s a good chance he’ll be on the shelf with Rodgers.
Not sure I see them trading for anyone either because they’ll expect Rodgers back either late this season or at worst for next season. It doesn’t make sense for them to go for anyone unless it’s an expiring contract and they believe that QB can help them win a Super Bowl, but no one really springs to mind that fits that criteria...
So I suspect any QB they go after will merely be a fill in until he’s ready to play or until the season ends. Of the free agents I’d say they are more likely to go with RGIII than Kaepernick, but I personally see them sticking with Hundley unless he really struggles. In fact they might even give Matt Flynn a call to fill in again!
Out of interest, if the Packers did give Brett Favre a call for one last ride, or he gave them a call and persuaded them, how would that play out with him being in the hall of fame?

With all due respect Tex I think you need to chill out. This anthem stuff is making you act a bit unhinged. You just posted a PFT article as evidence of a political conspiracy to sabotage a sports league.

Queue the sign kap or he is blacklisted stories. What is there to queue up? He is blacklisted. It's patently obvious. Whether he can demonstrate collusion is a separate issue, but is anyone really disputing that he is blacklisted? Kap isn't a great player, but have you seen the state of the QB position lately? Look who is starting games and the dude can't even get a job as a backup.

personally see them sticking with Hundley unless he really struggles I agree. It would be very un-Thompson like to bring someone in off the street to start. I think Hundley gets a shot as well. I believe McCarthy echoed this sentiment in his post-game presser.

Kap has to play pistol to be minimally effective. how many teams play pistol? he simply is not good enough to warrant the aggravation . period.

Look who is starting games and the dude can't even get a job as a backup. Define blacklisted. I don't think there's some list. I think there's 32 teams that have individually decided no thanks. The talent is not worth the trouble. It's not the first time this has happened, by the way. For varied and different reasons...Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Ray Rice, Tim Tebow, RGIII, Greg Hardy, and lots more. Guys whose talent was roster worthy, or at least worth a visit, but couldn't get a sniff. Not worth the complications. If Kaep could play like DeShaun Watson he'd have a job. He can't. That's all there is to it. Not some list.

Well remember when JG got hit very similarly people here called him not being tough. You know ... it's a funny thing, but that Garappolo hit was the first thing I thought of when I saw Rodgers go down. The strange thing was that Rodgers didn't even look like he was in very much pain, and he clearly had some choice words for Anthony Barr ... but I don't think the hit was dirty ... or at least not very. Rodgers is out of the pocket at that point. If anything, I thought Barr might get called for landing on Rodgers and driving him into the turf a little bit. Out here Vikings fan thrives on the notion that the Packers -- and especially Rodgers -- get all the calls. Not this time, I guess.
I don't care one way or the other about Green Bay, but it changes the entire landscape of the NFL when a guy of Rodgers caliber goes out. And it's not just the NFC. Think about Pats fans who might have been counting on a Packers victory over Bitchburgh, for instance, to assist their own team's playoff positioning.
Stranger things have happened, but I don't think Green Bay is going anywhere with Chet Huntley at quarterback.
(editor's note: you will have to be of a certain age to understand that last bit).
