Since we have had a few days to discuss this... I would like to add a couple things...
A couple of posts in question were reported to me and warnings had been issued. As far as death threats towards a poster, I didn't see or take the posts as death threats and still don't feel they were death threats.
I think we all know that it's not a good idea to share personal information on an internet forum.
I don't like being under the microscope of ProBoards. I don't feel that we are violating their rules, at least I feel our intent certainly isn't that. I know, as well as everyone else here knows that we are passionate fans, while we might not all get along and from time to time go back and forth with some heated discussions, we all have that one thing in common that binds us here... we all love the Patriots. At the end of the day, that's what it's all about here. No harm is intended and I don't like the idea that ProBoards is assuming that's what's going on here.. it isn't.
Going forward, I guess the discussion should be is do we want this strictly a Patriots forum with discussion boards for other sports and football contests.. totally getting rid of the off topic/political and other off topic subjects?
I'm open to discussion on this.

I'm open to discussion on this. Understood. But haven't we given good ol' Prolate enough attention? Lets move on.
If ProBoards want to micromanage, and turn this forum into a sterile, staid place...so be it. It's absolutely ridiculous that a complaint by one oddball should have such influence.
This forum has evolved into one much better than it's old Boston Globe predecessor...and has developed into a first rate place to talk Patriots. But, if ProBoards persists in pushing a set of rigid, PC rules, we'll adapt, and, if necessary, find other outlets in which to sound our opinions.
One question. Hasn't Babe set up his own forum with ProBoards? If so, I wonder how he's navigating around their rules...LOL!!!

I have waited to respond more forcefully to the spurious allegation made by PRO
I made NO death threats. If WISHING for something is a THREAT I don't get it !!
PRO has been ADVOCATING for the destruction of the USA/CONSTITUTION for months on the Political Thread. Check his Posts.
As a Military School Graduate and Veteran, I hold that intention and He both DESPICABLE.
I regret ONLY that this dispute has caused ramifications for ADMIN and the BOARD.

I hadn’t intended on posting in this particular thread again but since Admin is soliciting input I will repeat what I posted earlier in this thread.
If we do not have an active political forum on this site then political discussions will migrate here. I visit here to talk football and would prefer to avoid having politics introduced into football discussions. I care about our country and the world at least as much as the next guy but this is where I can set aside all that and talk about the Pats period.
My 2 cents.

I agree with ATJ, and think having the political forum helps reduce the number of political discussions taking place in the main forum. If you do decide to remove the political forum, I think you'll need moderators to police the main forum and delete political posts as they appear.

Here are some points: - In order to keep politics out of the football forum, you need a separate forum. Otherwise, we will wind up having to search for the football needle in the political haystack.
- Keeping politics only in the OT forum needs to be STRICTLY enforced so that the football forum remains just a football forum
- If the Admin can delete someone's post, he should do that when it is political and appears in the football forum, not just move it.
- A stern warning should be given to that poster to keep it in the OT discussion forum and suspensions should follow for repeated violations
- If a thread devolves into a political one in the football forum, don't just move it. Delete it and tell us it was deleted and to go to the OT forum and start a new thread if they want to continue. IOW, vastly stricter enforcement in the football forum.
- I see that particular post as being close to a death threat, even if not exactly being one. Other posts by troll were even worse.
- A poster that only insults, and that is his bag, should be permanently banned from this board. Rusty has been permanently banned. Troll makes Rusty look like an angel.
- Heated discussion is one thing. Insults/threats are quite another. The rules clearly state this. If you must insult, insult the post, not the poster.
- Posters should learn to use the ignore feature. It works! That is why I added the blocking of a poster's input that you have on ignore even when that poster's post has been quoted. Unfortunately, I cannot modify the mobile app to do this, only the one on the browser on the computer.
In summary, it is up to all of us to be civil. However, a large responsibility falls upon Admin for not adequately enforcing the rules that he published and appear at the top of each forum.

Good suggestions Shelly. One minor suggested modification to the provision in red. For threads that are about topics that, by their very nature, concern both football and politics/current events (such as the thread about Kraft's indiscretions, or about kneeling during the national anthem, or about Bill Belichick's T-shirt), I'd suggest not deleting the entire thread but just moving it.

I should be able to click on "recent posts" and read the latest football posts, not read a lot of bullshit that amounts to nothing.

Mostly the politics are fine, even if the threads sometimes get hot. I disagree entirely. This is called the "patriotsfans" forum and that's where it ends... it doesn't say "and politics too."When I click on "recent posts" at the top of this forum, I am now subject to weeding through an endless trough of bullshit and vomit that has nothing to do with the Patriots or football. I have a hard enough time listening to a few ignorant posters talk about football and remain civil. Left/right, liberal/conservative, democrat/republican... I don't belong to either one of your cults. You're both equally full of shit and what is actually wrong with this country, it's because of those of you who fall into these two ranks that nothing will ever change. You're falling for propaganda, divide and conquer, and democracy died decades ago. The Constitution that posters are railing about was shredded long ago, and now is only good as a museum piece to show what this country used to be, before it became an oligarchy run by foreign bankers. Go start a "politicsfansforum" elsewhere if you want. And frankly I never cared until you threatened this football forum's right to exist, this is one of my few respites from the horror and noise of the outside world. Quit being a bunch of self absorbed and inconsiderate mouth breathers, go find somewhere else to play make believe. And I'm not just talking to Prolate, I mean all of you, I also mean the Mods should grab this by the balls and clip them off. As I was reading through the most recent pages of posts, similar thoughts like yours, wozzy, were percolating in my mind, (yes, there was smoke in the room! (-: ) and I was getting ready to post my thoughts. Mine.... In a nutshell, any post to this forum should be strictly kept to matters pertaining to the sports team we all like, The New England Patriots. Unfortunately, even within a discussion which is clearly football related, a "political leaning" post creates a knee jerk reaction and the string goes down the tube from there. Being an internet forum gives all the anonymity of posting whatever one likes since there are no personal consequences. I seriously doubt too many folks here would say the things they say in a face to face discussion. Keep it to football and let that be the only reason we rail on each other!

Keep football to the football forum and clearly define where posters can begin discussion if they are not Patriots or NFL related. There are plenty of places to vent on other topics not New England Patriots!

I've yet to hear a sports discussion radio show or forum that doesn't sometimes involve politics. I haven't lived in Boston for years now, but I certainly remember Dennis & Callaghan and Mustard & Johnson on WEEI (I bet you can guess which I liked better ). Politics was a huge part of both those shows. It's just natural that sports links to current events. I can't control myself. Neither can a lot of people. Trying to suppress it seems like a lot of work. "Get a room" seems an easy solution . . . as long as there is a room.

The political forum divided us and I strongly feel it should be discontinued, especially since it is a low number of people who participate in it. Please keep this site for football only.

Reason I go to a Football Forum, AND especially I go to this Forum, is I want NOT to think Politics. The Posters here are Fantastic Patriot Posters, we might have disagreements, but that is the discussion I would rather debate. Defeating the purpose of this site, on anything else on the Front Page. Put it somewhere those who want to discuss it can. Don't worry I wont be there to hinder you.

It will eventually destroy this board, but hey... as long as you guys get to discuss something completely unrelated to Patriots football.

Yes, it has and yes it is. That is why everyone should avoid politics on this forum. If you want to discuss it, there is the OT discussion forum. Yet posters complain when I publicly ask the moderator to move a political thread out of the football forum. Go figure.

I have my reasons for participating in the political forum, but if most want to do away with it I’d support that. I do think though that ATJ is right that political comments wouldn’t go away, at least not without much more heavy-handed moderation.

This thread is comical. The issue was the death threat or the perceived death threat. The issue was about a users conduct NOT what forum it was on.
Yea get rid of the political forum because everyone is polite and shows proper decorum in the football threads. No worries 🤦🏻♀️

Although I've been reading this forum from time to time, this is my first post in many weeks. The main reason why I stopped participating is because there were way too many threads that deteriorated in one way or another into politcal arguments. However, because this is primarily a thread about arguments that derive from political discussions I would like to write my 2 cents about this topic.
Needless to say that our country is extremely politically divided right now and feelings on both sides are so strong (including my own) that no one is ever going to win an argument and no one is ever going to change anybody else's mind.
One "political" topic that was continuously brought up on the General Discussion Board was the kneeling issue. Whenever this topic was brought up I would become furious. I knew that if I chose to participate, I would get so mad that I would say things that would probably get me banned.
I served in the Military during the Vietnam War. 58,000 Soldiers lost their lives and countless thousands of others became totally screwed up including freinds of mine. I am still extremely bitter about what happened over there. I could go on and on about how badly Vets were treated coming back from Nam. The term "Baby Killers" were often used in place of "Heroes". But that was then and this is now. And speaking of now, if I was at a game today and someone wanted to kneel to protest something, I might want to join with them to protest draft dodgers wrapping themselves up in the flag while thinking it's OK to send everyone elses son and daughter off to war while keeping their own families out of harms way. So that would be my protest. I served and hope all the flag wavers wouldn't have a problem with that. And if they didn't like what I did that would be there right. This is still America last time I checked.
But in closing I really, really, really hope that we can keep politics off the General Discussion Board and have strict enforcement because we can yell and scream about politics on the General Disussion Board and the only thing we would accomplish is to destroy what is supposed to be a place where New England Patriot Fans can come to enjoy discussing our beloved team.
