was too tired last night to post
-lots of draft stories last night but thought the ballsiest move, absolute no brainer "what are they doing there" move was Zeke Elliotts shirt!
-not a popular thought here, but the 3 stooges, Colts, Jets and Broncos all got really good players who will help them this year (Broncos not right away)
-Shemp, the 4th stooge, I mean the Ravens, picking Stanley was a reach imo
-I have never seen or heard of a face bong. I knew the draft was worth watching
-MJack falling out of the first was the biggest surprise to me. Cleve takes him today with the fist pick, right?
-other than the future all pro C Kelly, all the Bama guys slipped, right?
-I think the mediocre BB tree is going to get a bit stronger with Jon Robinson in Tenn
-I watched (surprise) the ESPN show last night, and applaud both Gruden and Melly Mel (no not ours) on how brutally honest they were in there analysis. Refreshing
-seems it is being reported the leaked Tunsil info is either his step father or a jilted financial advisor.
-I had thought Goff #1 from the moment of the trade (and posted so here) but the moment Goodell was going to announce, I really thought Wentz. Might Wentz beat out Bradford as they both learn a new system in Philly?
-Idk, seems so many of these guys drafted are so iffy. is it worth the financial outlay for such risk? is it wiser to have two #2's than a #1 this year? BB does it again??
-I still say no to OL in the 2nd unless the Pats trade up, and they take one in the 3rd...making Cannon a roster lock.

Karp, with the rookie salary scale, I think the first round is more desirable than ever. The statistics suggest that the guys picked early do tend to be the best talent. That said, not every first rounder works out and many later rounders do. Still, on average, a far higher percentage of first rounders end up going on to all-pro type careers than do picks in later rounds.

I just think this points out that if you have a need, that there might not be an opportunity to draft and fix a problem
All of the top Oline talent will be gone by the time the Pats draft And maybe even if they had had their pick , there isn't anyone

This year I'm sure Belichick is just fine with NE's situation. Having 2 2nd and 2 3rds is excellent ammo for this draft class. I do actually agree that the Jets took a pretty good player, not so much on Denver and Indy. I think Kelly was the best of a very mediocre group of centers, and I think Lynch is a total projection. IMO, Hackenberg and Cook are both better prospects, and they aren't even that great. Goff might surprise me, but this just isn't a good QB class at all. Denver would have been much better off with Kaepernick

There are a number of OL projects with high upside that need strong coaching most teams will pass on initially. They have a good shot of being there in the 2nd. Back of the 3rd though might be pushing it

I guess I'd focus on front seven over O line in the second round. You're unlikely to get elite OTs in the second round, especially lower in that round, and I think you can find interior linemen with some potential later in the draft. Those guys may not make an impact this year, but they can develop on the practice squad for a year or two. That's kind of Scar's traditional approach.
To me DT and LB are the places to focus. After that, I'd look at RB and WR. Then secondary. Then OT. Of course, a lot of the decision will depend on who's available. If a top interior O line prospect slips and is available, then you may move him to the top of the heap.

I expect the Pats to draft a LB, DT and OT with first three picks, forecasting for next year like BB always does. Followed up by RB and WR. That is, unless somebody talented drops.

Almost no one expected Mankins or SeeBass to be picked when they did, nor did anyone expect (before the draft) for them to be as good as they turned out. There could be someone this year that Bill knows about that most of us don't that would help the line.

So are you thinking a WR in the sixth round? We have trouble picking a good WR in the first 3/4 rounds...I'm hoping they just pick some big CB-DE-OT projects if that's the case.

Not sure why everyone thinks they need a receiver? But whatever...for what it's worth, most of their receivers were late round guys or not drafted. Edelman 7th Amendola UDFA Washington UDFA Hogan UDFA Harper UDFA Martin was a 4th rounder, Dobson a 2nd, so they're the guys with pedigree. Early round WR picks have been pretty awful, not going to mention any names... they're better off waiting.

I live in east Texas about an hours drive from La. Tech got to see Dixon several times, he could be a star with Pats. Catches ball well, willing to block, will take it inside or out. Hope he makes it to us.

we'll see how BB & Co play their hand, but I just don't see many slots on this year's roster being won by 6th & 7th rounders or UDFA, so I see the Pats using the late rounders to move up to grab someone they covet tonight ... the rest will likely be practice squad projects
I'd be happy with 3 young "keepers" and a trade that acquires an improved 2017 pick

Yeah, the best news that came out of this overblown event was that the Boston TV market came in 56th of 56 for viewership.
Not that Adolph Stalin cares, but that's about the best message Pats fans can possibly send.
