Tom E Curran, Phil Perry and Albert Breer give their pros and cons for J.J. McCarthy, Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels. Which QB would be the best fit for the Patriots? youtu.be/UT0dIOE_MHwpodcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/tom-currans-patriots-talk-podcast/id1136777305?i=1000652179817I thought this was a pretty good episode comparing the 3 QBs we could pick at 3, relatively unbiased with some decent stats and game examples to back up their opinions. I am still a Maye guy, I like Daniels a little more after this and JJ a little less. I am sure those opinions will alter as more talking heads have continued breakdowns.

I used to like to listen to Curran, but I find him obnoxious nowadays. Perry is fine. I couldn't get thru 10 minutes though.....lol

I also really like Phil Perry’s podcast as well.

As fans today, we're lucky that so many former NFL QB's are doing QB prospect evals, providing us with insight and perspective that the average fan or analyst generally can't. I also like when these guys stay away from player comp fallacies... but they also know most fans love a good comp fallacy.

But it’s easy for fans to get hooked on “this can is just like this other guy” good or bad.

Yeah I tried to get through some of this stuff last night, I thought it was pretty good. I agree on a lot of it. The thing with McCarthy - who I thought would be the ultimate steal of this draft in the second round - is now that he no longer will be a steal at 3-6 overall, you have to take a deep dive into what he hasn’t done…and throwing outside the numbers is A number 1 on my list. He is over the middle/between the numbers, line drive lower arching throws all day. Over and over again. And he hasn’t had to carry the load yet. Doesn’t mean he won’t be able to do any of this ^^, it just means there are some serious questions.
But they all have them. Maye seems to be my favorite because at least I know he can make every throw, take some hits, and has been forced to carry his team without a lot of help and has prototype size/athleticism. Having said that, he hasn’t exactly been perfect doing it either. Daniels looks pretty good too, but watching him throw to guys that are the finest at the position is concerning to me, and he is an absolute stick in terms of build. That’s something to be seriously concerned with. Maybe Penix might be the true bargain of the draft?? But don’t fool yourself, other teams know it too…I bet the Raiders are all over this guy.

70% of the New England fans want Maye or Daniels over McCarthy. Hey if it works fine. Bad mistake, kid has a winning mind set, that is not LAZY! Improve on his mistakes, without pointing fingers. I was not a McCarthy fan, until I watched Fiesta Bowl 2 years ago. Kid at 19 _UCKED UP, and almost brought back Michigan. Brady vibes, no BS. www.youtube.com/watch?v=lThGsjgj2jI

After watching all of this podcast I am still locked in on Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels, and JJ McCarthy in that order.

Drake Maye analyzed by the best QB scout on youtube. Former Green Bay Packer QB Kurt Benkert. youtu.be/rNh0rMarmbQ?si=8R25HOscXBzZjp2XYou should all subscribe! Drake Maye is very good one moment and then very bad the next. Not a 1st rounder like that. He doesn't drop straight back and as a result tells the defense which side of the field he is throwing to. That will result in routes getting jumped/picked off everytime!

I am solidly in the JJ camp now. He is the guy I want them to draft. His athleticism is way underrated. None of these QBs are without concerns, but JJ is my guy.

If Maye was on the offense of LSU or Michigan he would have stupid numbers and be a can’t miss generational talent and won the heisman at least once.

That will result in routes getting jumped/picked off everytime! he’s young and they is easily correctable. He also didn’t have the luxury of being in an offense with good protection like JJ and Daniels, who also had stats around him to make their job easier and stat accumulation.

Delete the multiple postings…we got it good forbid we talk about one of the most important draft picks we have in the past 20 years and discuss a new take on the QBs available. You could have moved on and not bothered posting here, I guess you got a lot of time on your hands to waste.

Who among us will be the first to whine bitch piss or moan when your guy isn’t the one selected…I can’t wait for the posters to offer their evaluations as to why his guy wasn’t selected (or was selected). Personally, I will root for any of the four if they selected. Nix, Penix jr, are not among them.
