NE Mock Draft, some trades to move around the board, a NE reach for Clark as there is a big drop on OT talent after him. Henry is an interior rusher that has all the tools to get better. Redmond has size an versatility to to eventually replace Ryan. Perkins is a 3 down back with decent size and great vision. Killebrew has fallen a bit but could be a future replacement for Chung. Mike Thomas has very good hands and high points the ball well, still needs work with route running. Thuney has some flexibility. Stample, Freeney and Driskel late round hopefuls, likely PS.

I keep coming back to DE as a bigger need than CB, or even DT. Its Kaufusi for me at 60. You got to get a replacement for Jones. www.youtube.com/watch?v=7s0KiubyLvA Plays like Patriot. High Motor, Great length, Smart.

There was a rumor going around that since the draft is so DLine heavy that teams are going to try to grab other positions first before going DLine. Bad for a person like me who wants to see someone like Sterling Shepherd fall in our range but I bet we end up with a pretty good choice of DLinemen there.

It's officially draft week! With that said, barring trades (which are likely), below is what I'm feeling for day 2: Rd 2 Sheldon Day DT Notre Dame Rd 2 Christian Westerman OG Arizona State Rd 3 KeiVarae Russell CB Notre Dame Rd 3 Kyle Murphy OT Stanford You build up both trenches and hedge against losing Butler or Ryan. Day should quickly join the DT rotation and provide the disruption that they lose with the release of Easley, Westerman could be a day 1 starter on the interior and give them their best OG since Mankins, Russell (who I also like in Rd 2) could quickly become your #3 CB (and eventual starer) and Murphy could server as a swing option, while he gains strength, and potentially take over for Vollmer, should they choose to move on after the season. Build depth and fill holes, before they become holes. I know RB remains a "need", but I feel like they can fill that on Day 3, though it certainly realistic that they take one on Day 2). I'd also love to see them target Shepard and Miller. I really like Westerman. I think he would be a great pick for the Pats. He can line up in several spots and has great footwork, strength, and fundamentals. You'd gave yo think Scar would love this guy. Rd 2 Chris Jones DT/DE Mississippi St.. Rd 2 Christian Westerman OG AZ State Rd 3 Jordan Jenkins OLB Georgia Rd 3 Jordan Howard RB Indiana Rd 6 Daryl Worley CB West Virginia Rd 6 Demarcus Robinson WR Florida Rd 6 DeAndre Hall CB Northern Iowa Rd 6 Daniel Braverman WR Western Michigan I know NE won't draft a RB in the 3rd but I like Howard. Tough runner, good blocker. I can assume WR Robinson from Florida won't be picked either, but I like him too. CB Rashad Robinson out of LSU would be worth a late found flier if he's available. I expect 2 6th to be traded and I couldn't begin to think of 7th rounders.

Dan Vitale was scouted by the Pats and interviewed on WEEI this am a FB/TE/Slot Receiver. Seems to fit Pats to a Tee. Looks to be a 4th - 5th rounder They don't have any now. Would they use the 3rd round comp pick on him?

Another group with trades, even though I use 11 Picks I believe NE will use less. Also showing some double down picks, expecting some to be on the practice squad. There has been some questions on Jones´motor, he may drop to second. Theus has been rising could be a late Day 2 pick. BB was at Georgia again this year. Davis at safety. Kaufusi fell on the board I am using, probably gone. Ervin= binky. Peake and Thomas could replace Dobson, Martin or Amendola next year. Thuney has more value than most OL playing all positions. Norris, LeBlanc and Wilds all underrated. Will all these guys make it? Obviously, no. Let them compete and see what happens. We saw trades last year before the season, could happen again.
It is all based on the quantity-quality theory of NE, multiple selections to find the best fit for the team.
Round 2 Pick 29: Chris Jones, DT/DE, Mississippi State Round 3 Pick 8 (NYG): John Theus, OT, Georgia Round 3 Pick 33 (COMP): Sean Davis, FS/CB, Maryland Round 4 Pick 5 (JAX): Bronson Kaufusi, DE/OLB, Brigham Young Round 4 Pick 30 (ARI): Tyler Ervin, RB, San Jose State Round 5 Pick 17 (BUF): Charone Peake, WR, Clemson Round 6 Pick 33 (COMP): Mike Thomas, WR, Southern Mississippi Round 6 Pick 39 (COMP): Joe Thuney, OG, NC State Round 6 Pick 46 (COMP): Jared Norris, ILB, Utah Round 7 Pick 22: Cre'von LeBlanc, CB, Florida Atlantic Round 7 Pick 29: Brandon Wilds, RB, South Carolina

As we get close to the draft, I'm starting to feel like Belichick is going to move up for Derrick Henry. Just a gut feeling.

Would they use the 3rd round comp pick on him? You never know with BB, but Rd 3 is too rich for me on Vitale. I like the player, but I think they can land a more talented player in Rd 3, especially if they're looking to add a back (Vitale isn't a ball carrier, or wasn't utilized as one at NW)... and wouldn't consider him until the Rd 5-7 range.

Westerman isn't the kind of pick that would excite most of the fan base, but the #1 goal should be to protect Brady, and give him the time he needs to carve up defenses. Just go out and get the best football players... particularly those that can help you win at the LOS. Howard is definitely an option if they're looking to target a back on day 2... BB has historically liked big bangs that can bang it between the tackles, and Howard represents that.

I really doubt that NE gets to trade out of R2 or R3. The whole deframegate debacle has made me very cynical about the inner workings of the league. With several owners so jealous of the Pats' success, I would not be surprised if there was some under the table collusion that teams avoid making trades with the Pats.
So, I will do this mock with no trades. The circumstances will force them to reach on some players.
R2, 60: OT Shon Coleman R2, 61: CB Maurice Canady R3, 91: DT Willie Henry R3, 96: FS Sean Davis/ Justin Simmons R6, 196: OLB Antwione Williams R6, 204: WR Mike Thomas R6, 208: WR Mitch Mathews R6, 214: CB Anthony Brown R6, 221: OG Parker Ehringer R7, 243: RB Chris Swain R7, 250: QB Jake Coker

I have faith NE can trade out. Like the double down on WR and CB.

Good to hear about Williams.

Another Kaufusi Only 6´10"
BYU adds 6'10'' bball player Corbin Kaufusi
Corbin Kaufusi, a 6-foot-10 BYU basketball player, joined the football team.
Kaufusi, the brother of Bronson Kaufusi, signed with the Cougars a few years back as a 6-foot-8 offensive lineman. He left for a Mormon mission and ended up growing two inches on his sabbatical. When he returned to school, Corbin Kaufusi joined the basketball team. Now, he wants to play his original love. "It’s always been a dream of mine to play football at BYU," Kaufusi said in a statement. "I’m really excited about what is happening with football. I’m looking forward to being coached by my dad and learning from him and my teammates. I’m grateful for the support of the basketball coaches as I pursue this opportunity." Kaufusi will join BYU’s defensive line, which is trying to replace older brother Bronson.

I really doubt they will have a shot at him, but Michigan St DE Shaquille Calhoun is probably my pipe-dream pick. I think he would be an extraordinary replacement for Jones.

Hey everyone good to see you all over here. Didn't post a great amount at BDC, and when I did it was almost always on the draft thread, but enjoyed reading. In any case, I've been playing on the draft simulator at first pick, and this is the best haul I got:
Round 2 Pick 30: Carl Nassib, DE/OLB, Penn State (A-) Round 3 Pick 5 (S.F.): Joshua Perry, OLB/ILB, Ohio State (A) Round 3 Pick 23 (MINN): Braxton Miller, WR, Ohio State (A) Round 3 Pick 33 (COMP): Devontae Booker, RB, Utah (A+) Round 4 Pick 7 (S.F.): Joe Haeg, OT, North Dakota State (B+) Round 5 Pick 6 (S.F.): Sean Davis, FS/CB, Maryland (B) Round 6 Pick 33 (COMP): Dan Vitale, FB, Northwestern (A+) Round 6 Pick 39 (COMP): KeiVarae Russell, CB, Notre Dame (B+) Round 6 Pick 46 (COMP): Demarcus Robinson, WR, Florida (A+) Round 7 Pick 22: Daryl Worley, CB, West Virginia (A+) Round 7 Pick 29: Nate Sudfeld, QB, Indiana (B-)
Lot of guys slipping past where I think they'll be drafted, but I think this would be a pretty great haul.

So having a beer with friends last night and the topic of bad 3rd round picks came up. And the question we had is what player could you see the Pats taking for in the 3rd that you would question why reach there, why risk with his injures, why risk with his off field issues?
For me I just kept thinking the German WR Boehringer. Don't know why but he seemed like the gamble BB takes with WRs in the 3rd (reminders of Price). Not only that but BB seems to like German players. Honestly the kids a priority UDFA so I would use a 7th to make sure you get him but wouldn't be shocked to see BB use a 3rd on him
