I don't see a team hiring BB as a head coach again at the Pro level. He wouldn't coach at the college level, not sure he would be a good recruiter. BB is on the book writing, coaching retirement tour right now. look, Rhule said it himself in the OP. Bill is a coaching savant. forgetting college for the moment, there were what, 8 or 9 HC positions open in the NFL this year, and Bill wanted to still coach. he did not get any of the openings. Why? not because he could not still coach. so why? not saying the game passed him by, but the game has changed. the players have changed. has Bill? based on the past few seasons, if you are a team with a very young QB, do you want Bill as your HC? if he is not bringing Josh as his OC, given how well it did work with Mac, and given what a disaster it was with Mac and Zippy, and without Josh, do you bring in Bill as your HC? 8 or 9 teams said no thanks. As head coach he wouldn't be in charge of the draft or FA. He would have a say but the final word would go to the GM. That would be a plus. All he has to do is coach which he can do.

You just described the collaboration starting in 2021... except Kraft reportedly pushed for the Bill O'Brien hiring... a coaching decision. He also pushed to keep Mac the starter despite an attempt by the head coach to ship him out and go in another direction. Even if BB goes to a team with a dedicated GM... the entire front office and coaching staff have to be rowing in the same direction.

The game has passed him by. The players have also changed. Bill will never change. That was also a reason the Patriots were so successful for so long and what eventually caused the downfall. this could be true this most likely is very true if so, this does not mean you or I hate Bill. Too bad the game has passed BB by...and too bad Karpie isn't running the club. Belichick has forgotten more about football then you would know over 100 lifetimes! Taking a year off will recharge and reinvigorate Bill. After the last two seasons and the breakup with his common law wife, this time off period is just what the doctor ordered for him. He'll be back as an NFL coach next season - and, in the right setting, he'll be highly successful. www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/matt-rhule-was-blown-away-by-bill-belichick

I don’t think there’s any sort of discontent with this guy to the younger generation, that’s total and complete BS. I do think he’s made enough questionable personnel decisions over the years to hurt the team, especially at quarterback, but then again I also wonder how much our middling owner and son have to do with a lot of this franchise’s issues right now.
It’s all on Kraft now, he has the spotlight he insatiably desires and we’ll see how much he likes it when they start “Kraft Sucks” chants when they’re down three touchdowns in a half empty stadium. Those $18 dollar beers have a way of making everyone feel pretty chipper halfway through a Sunday afternoon when it’s so cold your nipples could engrave TB12 on aluminum.

Thats not what Kraft said, he said he was making it a collaboration and you implied he was taking the draft away from Bill. Now you’re changing what you said to he had complete power… why? Oh yeah, I already answered that. Tom got his coach fired and finished 8-9, players need good coaching as much as coaches need good players.

Stephon Gilmore says, "Don't leave the BS documentary fool you. Bill Belichick is the GOAT: Gilmore wrote on social media today that having watched the series, he’s disappointed in the lack of credit Belichick received for the Patriots’ success. “Just watched The Dynasty,” Gilmore wrote. “Bill was the greatest coach I’ve ever been around. Don’t let that fool you. I’ll never forget we were a predominantly man team during the 2018 season all the way up to the Super Bowl. When we played the Rams we switched to Zone. No coach would switch what they did all season in a big game like that. Or him telling me to play trail technique in Buffalo because the quarterback can’t throw against the wind when i was following a big time receiver. If you ever played corner that’s not a good feeling playing trail technique. I shut the WR down to 0 catches.” It’s been a consistent criticism of the documentary that it portrayed Tom Brady and Robert Kraft favorably and Belichick unfavorably. Belichick hasn’t commented on it. www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/stephon-gilmore-bill-belichick-is-the-greatest-coach-dont-let-the-dynasty-fool-youBut, but, but...the game has passed him by. He had the 5th best defense last year with his best overall player and two best young CB’s hurt… so if “the game passed him by” and players changed it only did so offensively. Which is objectively stupid… 5 th best based on what criteria? And, no matter what your answer, the Patriots were 4-13 last year, the only stat that matters, after being 8-9 in 22. The Patriots quickly hit the toilet, and there was no obvious plan in place to course correct the personnel issues that got them there…… Bill Belichick the GM had to go, unfortunately he took BB the coach with him…..

Top five. So if the game passed him by, it was very selective. His defense was among the best in the league despite dragging the 32nd worst offense around behind them and his players outside of Mac Jones loved playing for him. Mac sucked and BB wanted to get rid of him, of course Mac didn’t like him.

Bottom line the D was a play their nuts off even though the offense sucked the life out of them. Without the single best player on the team in Judon, without Christian Gonzalez and Marcus Jones… three of their best defenders.

That would have helped a lot.

Right Karpie? LOL!!!!!!! Bill was a great, great HC. yes, the GOAT as GM, yes, I feel the game has, or quickly is passing him by. if you are unsure, just look at the teams record he had 4 years post Brady, and we saw little to no plan to rebuild the team, we saw draft after draft not work out, and we saw free agency not work out. the staff hires were really bad, and the locker room was split, as was the coaching staff.
