I am not that familiar with Aiyuk but I am familiar with Metcalf.
I was frustrated when we traded the pick to Seattle and they drafted him.
He has the type of toughness our team needs.
Love his attitude.
Love his game.
My preference by FAR!
We need to draft Devin Culp and turn him into this guy! Similar height , speed and weight.
My 4th round pick
On Brandon Aiyuk: He knows HOW to get open and then CATCHES everything it seems.

DK Metcalf ran a 4.33, Culp ran a 4.47... which means Metcalf is light years faster in terms of straight-line/deep speed. That said, if they wanna scoop Culp as a day 3 development trait pick, I'd be for it.
As for which of the two I prefer, I'm an Aiyuk guy in this scenario. He's already shown to be a terrific fit for a Shanahan-esque O, and would immediately give them a true go-to #1 WR that they haven't had in a long time.

Jeeez! 😁 The difference between 4.3 and 4.5 is the time it takes to sneeze. Um. Most people to sneeze. Lol

You can watch one of those combine things, where they show a 4.33 guy vs. a 4.47 guy in the 40, and just how much faster the 4.33 guy is. 4.48 is the average speed for an NFL WR, and CB... so Culp would be a tick above average in that metric. Outside of MHJ, Nabers, Odunze and BTJ, which WR do you want most in this class?

Neither, unless either was a free agent.
Don’t trade for a guy you also have to pay a new massive contract, because you’re paying twice.
Draft a WR and bring in UDFA’s, bring in 3-4 of them… at least a couple will become serviceable weapons.

the trade compensation for WR's under 2nd contracts with some miles on them has dropped. Amari Cooper. Stefan Diggs. Metcalf a little younger, a little cheaper. if the Pats were to trade for him now for a 2025 2nd round pick they would owe Metcalf 2/ $35m. APY at $17.5m not too bad considering Lamb, Jefferson, D SMith and others will all get more than $17.5m
I would trade a 2025 2nd for Metcalf if he would extend 2 additional years.

We got Randy Moss for a 4th round pick in 2007. Metcalf is the best deep threat in the game, he's pretty one dimensional... but does that one thing better than anyone else. I'd love to have him on my team, but if I have to trade for him and pay him.... the trade value had better go way down. The only reason anyone trades DK Metcalf is they're still 8.6 million over the cap in April before the draft and the team isn't good enough.

Also Brandon Aiyuk is a #2 in a really good offensive scheme, team and overall situation.
Anyone who would trade for him and pay what will undoubtedly be a massive overpay is a fool.

I referenced Cooper and Diggs, both traded within in the past couple of seasons. Cooper, arguably a better WR in Dallas than Metcalf in Seattle, went for a 5th. Metcalf if traded, is due $13m this season and approx $18m next.

Both Dallas and Buffalo were hamstrung by the cap which precipitated these trades, but Diggs as much or more so because he was a malcontent. I see a 5th or so as the trade value for Metcalf, he has no guarantees left on his deal after this season. Players don’t start squawking about a new contract at the end of their last deals, they do it when there are no more guarantees on their last deal. Metcalf is only ok’ing a deal to a team that wants to work with him on an extension.

I want every WR on the team to be one who can take on the role of bread-and-butter/hig-volume receiver on any game. That is more Aiyuk than Metcalf.

I’m not a big fan of trading assets in the 1-2 round on wide receivers who I then have to turn around and pay (and pay big). However I do support that after the 3rd round, or even the third round itself if the receiver is THAT good. Simply because I think the asset (3rd round) dramatically falls off statistically from the second round - and the second round dramatically falls off from the first round. The draft really is very difficult, and a crap shoot due to so many factors…trading an asset for an outstanding player in the 4th round area is A OK in my book, but not the 1-2 round. IMO

IMO I'd trade a 4th for DK Metcalf, at the outside field stretching WR position he is a "#1," whatever the fck that is. I'm not trading and overpaying Aiyuk when they already got a solid comparable guy in KJ Osborne for much cheaper. Having both Osborne and Juju then adding Aiyuk is total redundancy of similar players.

Aiyuk all day long, way more skills and can block very well. Metcalf has proven to lose his cool way too many times, don’t need that on a young offense.

you putting Aiyuk in the same sentence as Osborne and JuJu is asinine Juju’s season at 22 years old is better than the best season of Aiyuk’s career. Aiyuk has been in an optimal offensive situation in San Francisco, better than Osborn has ever been in and better than Juju has seen since Ben was his QB and the Steelers were a good team. Receivers are beholden to the QB, blocking and scheme around them… they don’t produce in a vacuum. Learn the game.
