The defensive difficulties are the most concerning in my view, because it was supposed to be a strength that they could lean on throughout the season to at least keep them competitive. Needing to move on from Judon, then losing Barmore & Bentley to injury and finally the unexpected situation with Peppers has seriously crippled this group with no "fix" in sight. On the offensive side of the ball, substituting Maye for Brissett is clearly an early season upgrade even if it was not the "plan". Questionable off-season decisions wrt the O-line have been responsible for hampering the development of the playmakers, regardless of anyone's opinion on their potential. Changes to this positional group hold the only hope of "fixing" the current state of affairs, so perhaps we should consider what we might see unfold during the final ten games that could lead to some improved success. Getting guys healthy and increased experience can help provide a "fix" for this team weakness, but an influx of talent in the off-season is the real answer - this year we find out who the "keepers" are among the following. LT : Lowe & Jacobs??? LG : Sow & Strange??? C : Brown & Strange??? RG : Robinson & Jordan??? RT : Onwenu & Wallace??? what think ye? any potential for some degree of optimism here??? I think: LT - not currently on team LG - Strange, Jordan, Sow
C - Andrews and Andrews with maybe Brown RG - Onwenu, Robinson, Sow
RT - maybe Wallace
Lowe and Jacobs and _____ battle for swing tackle. Sow and Robinson and Jordan can battle over back-up guard.
On the DL we need more beef. Godchaux is getting worn down playing too many snaps. By the second half of games he is getting pushed around. With White and Barmore we have interior disruptors, but we need another double team eating fire hydrant. A good defensive end would be nice too.
And we need a good middle linebacker to pair with/spell Bentley.
With the injures, and trouble stopping runs have we tried switching to 4-3 at all, or is that something we threw away with the old coach. We still have a full complement of good DBs, what we need is more beef.

1) Continue to tank. Get the # 1 or 2 pick in the draft. 2) Fire Mayo, replace him with Mike Vrabel. 3) Fire Eliot Wolfe. Replace him with Vrables hand-picked GM. 4) Fire AVP, replace with Brian Dabol (after he is fired by the Giants). 5) Fire Covington replace with Brian Flores. Draft or sign in FA a LT, a C, a RT, a huge DE, a run stuffing LB, and a pass rusher. I wouldn't mind Flores as HC. He straightened out Miami. To continue to tank might not get you what you want. This upcoming draft does not support the Patriots needs where they are positioned in the draft. I also suspect they won't be able to trade out of the #1 or #2 spot. As of now, there isn't that stud QB or player that's worth giving up draft picks. It's early and something may happen but it just doesn't look good right now. Wolf will have his work cut out for him.

Optimism, I read through this and it sounds like a free for all. Whatever happened to locker room leadership. I know Jon Jones talked about it but somebody has to step up on the players side. www.audacy.com/weei/sports/patriots/patriots-hold-team-meeting-demanding-more-of-everybody
