Yes a fantasy but one I would love to beleive.
The problem is his cap hit and the big, fat 77m contract he signed last year. Not sure how we afford that given Hightower is making big money as well.
That's a lot of coin for the middle of your defense.

That's a lot of coin for the middle of your defense. The way I believe it works is the team trading the player has to eat the signing bonus portion of the cap charge and the team he gets traded to pays the yearly salary structure. If that's the case the Pats would pay a prorated amount of 6.75m this year, 8.7m in 2018 and 2.55m in 2019. I think that's how it works but I could be wrong maybe one of our salary gurus could weigh in.

I’m not sure Bowman can learn the system. He’s not noted for his intellect. I’d be down for a player with his talent here though.

Pats have $5.5 mil in cap space, Bowman would take about $4.5 mil of that. Doesn't seem all that likely.

Yes, unless they have dead money that is more than their salary. But, I can't see San Fran taking anything but draft picks. They're not taking Lewis.

very good to great player, but his next birthday he will be 30 years old. he has had serious injury. and he is complaining about playing time. that's an awful large cap hit next year for a player that may be at best a 2 down player I would prefer a player on his last year, playing for his next contract. prefer a LB with either cover skills or pass rush skills. we have not really had the chance to see it on the field, but it appears that the staff has decided that player is not Harris. they also swung and missed last year with Mingo, albeit he was very good on ST. while some posters may not have seen it, the coaching staff appears to like what they have with VanNoy and extended him. ditto McClellin. perhaps Rivers develops into that guy

Go get Kendricks Philly LB ....he can get after the rusher...he is younger and his playing time has been decreasing as well.

They're not taking Lewis. There’s plenty of tradable players on the roster. I didn’t have anyone specific in mind but I would not be surprised by anything B.B. does. He could trade any player tomorrow if he feels it makes the team better.

But, I don't think San Fran would have any interest in more or less anyone on the roster outside of Jimmy. They want draft picks. Some other team, sure there might be a match somewhere.

Don't know specifically but I think the 9'ers would have to eat any signing bonus cap wise and the Pats would be on the hook for his yearly base salary, although I'm not 100% sure.

They'd have to pay him about $4.x mil the rest of the year. Not bad, but considering they have $5.5 in cap space, it's not really doable unless they offload some money elsewhere. The Niners aren't taking Lewis, either.

Yeah, no problem. It is what it is... paperwork will be ready tomorrow...".

He's had games of 8, 11 and 10 tackles already this year. Make a call a time least...

Okay if it means a 2 year extension and the Binkie goes in the off season Not really an injury prone run stuffer is not what the need.
