Yeah that was one of the worst I've seen. He probably should have been disqualified. Much as I don't like the Crows, hope they win tonight. Looks good so far.

The good news is that Miami is down by 20.

I think there should be a rule that when someone gets injured on a dirty play, the offender should be out for as long as the guy who got injured is out. People can still go hit hard, just don't play dirty.

40-0, Ravens are responding big after the Alonso hit.[/quote RESPONSE: Good for them. Like most here, I'm no fan of the Baltimore Buzzards. But, I saw the Kiko Alonzo hit on the internet, and it did appear to be a cheap shot. Alonzo should draw at a minimum a fine, if not a game suspension. Admire the fact that the Buzzards rallied around their QB, and that one of their offensive lineman actually went after Alonzo. I'd like to think that the Patriots offensive lineman would stand up for Brady, too. They had better have that attitude this Sunday, against the Chargers' skilled pass rushers and rugged front seven.

Admire the fact that the Buzzards rallied around their QB, and that one of their offensive lineman actually went after Alonzo. +1 That was a dirty hit, and Alonso should have been thrown out of the game. On the slow mo, you can clearly see him leading with his arm and helmet trying to target Flacco's head. When we play Miami, I think we have found a job for Dwayne Allen.

It was borderline. Slide was late, Alonso was already committed.
Don't think he gets suspended. But, then again it's a different era so it's very possible.

Alonzo the new pollard or the new burfict. Some guys just know how to cross that line. IMO. Go after him slow him down ... Make him hesitate.

I didn't see it live and I agree, watching the video at full speed, it looks like the slide was late. The image in this article doesn't seem like Alonso had 'committed' before the slide starts. But a stop action still photo doesn't tell the whole story (like the photo people use to say 'Brady hit Welker right in the hands', hahaha). bleacherreport.com/articles/2740955-nfl-officials-botch-player-safety-again-after-brutal-hit-on-joe-flacco

People can still go hit hard, just don't play dirty. I really like that one. I also think that if it is ruled intentional the player should, at the least, be disqualified until the same number game the next season. So, if it happens in game 7, the first time that player would be eligible would be game 8 of the following season -- and that includes pre-season games and training camp. A second such occurrence would be a total ban for life. Also, if ordered or given a bounty to do so then the same punishment should apply to the coach AND head coach. The problem would be, though, in having an exceedingly clear definition of "intentional".

Lots of discussion regarding this hit and the "timing" issue of the big point many are making. As bad as the hit look, and the result for Flacco, when you look at this play in slow motion, the defender is preparing to hit Flacco around the mid-section if Flacco kept upright. Once he began the slide, the defender was committed and could only fall lower, therefore hitting Flacco on the ground. Some have argued he turned his shoulder towards Flacco and made the hit look worse. Regardless, if this play happened and Brady was the QB, the howls would be louder, unfortunately.
