Watching the post game from Gillette on local Boston sports channel. Mike Giardi who has covered the Pats for years and is a very accurate and level headed reporter had quite a lot to say about Gilmore.Giardiis a straight shooter -No hype, no hometown, no stupid statements to stir the pot but is a very accurate honest reporter keeps his ear to the ground.
He’s reporting that Gilmore practiced all week but was inactive which we all know. While he posited that maybe B.B. was just taking advantage of the bye week to give him teo more weeks to recover. However, after saying that he added that all is not well with Gilmore. Apparently Gilmore has stated numerous times that he only wants to play man which is not news which coaches have not responded to but is not being well received by some in the locker room. In addition Giardi reports that there are “concerns that Gilmore is lacking confidence” and that there are questions about Gilmore's grasp of the overall system and his ability to adapt to the constant scheme changes. Giardi was also critical of Ghost and reported, as did many others, that Hogan was unable to lift his arm, went into the trainers room to dress and will have an MRI tomorrow. He did not close his segment on a positive note. Players are off through Dunday except for Wednesday.

He may have something, but reliable? Giardi is the main Jimmy toady.I'd like to hear from a really reliable media (Bedard/Reiss/TE Caron) member, than a champion of the binky.

Beaded does not post nor does he appear much on TV since he started his own pay site. Tom Curran spends most of his time being snarky and condescending towards his female cohosts and perfecting his stand up. Ask Kaye Adams-she couldn’t wait to get off his show. She out performed Curran nightly and landed a national gig after one year on Quick Hits. She is great on Good Morning Football. Reiss is an ok writer but rarely, if ever, breaks anything new but maybe I’m missing his greatness as I don’t read ESPN sites.

It confirms what I heard from Fauria in the radio last week. He said there are issues with Gilmore, both in his unwillingness to play zone and how players view him in the locker room as soft.
It would seem common sense before signing him to have a sit down with him and simply ask...Stephon, are you good playing man and zone and mixing in coverages?

Also reported by several people including Giardi that, unlike most injured players who watch the game from the seats, Gilmore left the stadium and did not stay for the game.

My guess is he thought he would have no troubles picking up the system. Surprise!! Maybe he still will but if he doesn't it looks like we have 2 guys that can fill in and do the job. Maybe this is also the reason they are seeking to extend Butler's contract all of the sudden.

They did the same with Amendola and it almost feels like the same situation. They had a player who wouldn't sign the contract they wanted them to sign so they signed their target in FA out of the gate without even talking with them to see the fit

Well, if true about Gilmore it is sure GOOD that we still have a real football player named Malcolm Butler. Maybe we can trade Gilmore!

It won't happen this year but if he doesn't do anything for the second half of the season, they might have to do an Assweiler type trade (NBA type trade), where they trade him to a team with lots of cap space, wouldn't mind kicking the tires on him but will only give up maybe a 7th round pick and the Patriots might also have to throw in a 3rd or 4th round pick to convince the team to take his salary. Its sucks. Hopefully they play more man in the future and can get something out of him. I'd rather have Butler here over him.

I’m not sure where you are going with this one...

It's appearing more and more like the Adalius Thomas signing. He was not a Patriot type player. Looks like Gilmore is in the same vein.
Now, Butler is a Patriot type player and should be rewarded for it. Sadly, they won't be able to pay him Gilmore money so if he doesn't stay in NE I hope he makes a ton of money where ever he ends up.

From PFT:
The Chargers were not happy with an offensive pass interference penalty that negated a second-half touchdown.
“Bull—- call,” wide receiver Keenan Allen said, via Jack Wang of the Orange County Register.
Los Angeles trailed the Patriots 18-7 when Philip Rivers hit Travis Benjamin for a 41-yard score, but the touchdown was negated by a penalty on Tyrell Williams. Officials ruled Williams picked Benjamin’s defender, but it appeared two Patriots ran into each other as Williams moved out of the way.
“I think that’s going to be one that we’re going to hear back from [the league] to say that they weren’t right,” Rivers said. “But it’s too late.”
Instead of getting within 18-14 with 2:40 remaining in the third quarter, the Chargers ended up punting two snaps later.
“That was a clear-cut touchdown,” running back Melvin Gordon said.
Chargers coach Anthony Lynn was careful not to criticize officials but called it a “big play of the game.”
“I did not [think it was a penalty],” Lynn said. “But, you know, I have to see the tape before I make that decision. The referee called it, [and] he saw what he saw. But I know we go at that angle and then try get out the way, so that we don’t pick. That’s what we practice, and Tyrell said that’s what he did. But I don’t know; we will see. That was a big play of the game, I’ll tell you that.”

IDK, I haven't seen the replay but I remember thinking we got away with one.

It was a textbook pick play ala Welker vs Talib AFC Championship game, as long as it wasn't within 1 yard of the LOS.

Why? Because we get screwed too. We've been getting some pretty iffy calls this season. We get lots of them. We've definitely had some pretty pathetic OPI calls against us. This season no team is going to get any sympathy from me over BS penalties.

'Bad' calls happen and they happen to every team. It's part of the game. And, yes, I agree that it sure seems the Pats are called for OPI more than other teams.

He may not like it, but he works for the Patriots right now.

For the first year or so there was a tremendous amount of criticism of him. It was only after Edelman solidified the Welker position that he was supposed to fill that he started producing.

If the bad call the Chargers are referring to is the pick play then they are absolutely wrong. It was a pick play all the way.

He’s guaranteed big money and the Pats can’t do a thing with him except play him or bench him for the next 2-3 years. I get the get onboard mantra, and it takes a big man to be humble and just play what B.B. wants. I haven’t seen neither yet with Gilmore.

He has a contract - so, he is a privileged asshat with some control (if the rumors are true - if they're not - i take it all back...).
