I believe more so for the Pats O than the D.
LAC's D is ranked 8th on points allowed. They're tied for 4th ins sacks (21), most of it from Bosa (7.5) and Ingram (8.5).
It'll be interesting to see how the Pats handles that without the quick pass to JE.
LAC's O is so so. They're averaging 19.6 PPG. I have always thought that Rivers is overrated. He chokes when the score is close late in the game. Gordon might be a bigger challenge to stop. Should be no problem if HT plays.
If the D can play as sharp as they did v ATL, they should be fine.

One test will be whether we put real stoppers on the Chargers run offense. Putting them in 3rd and long will go a long way to dictating the whole game.
Bottom line is I think whether we play 60 minutes of complementary football. If we run well and are sound in slowing their running game TB will easily take up those moments of slack where he will be needed. This might not end up a high scoring game but we could dominate from start to finish.

Those 2 DEs are definitely going to be game planned for. A lot of chipping from the backs and help from the TEs I would assume. If NE can shut down the run I do not believe Olde man Rivers can win in a shootout anymore. LAC are playing better than ATL so this should be a good game.

With a competent kicker the LAC could easily be 5-2. The Chargers have one of the best pass rush and Melvin Gordon is finally living up to billing. This game will be a dog fight.

I'm not that impressed with the Chargers. They beat the Giants, Raiders and Broncos. Big deal. Rivers is a gun slinger, has that weird side throwing motion, which can be blocked, He's reckless. His greatest asset is his big mouth. Yes Bosa and Ingram are good, it's on the O-line to take care of them.

Anybody see the Chargers give up 140 yards a game in rushing which stinks. 31st in the NFL 4.9 attempt. You think this should be a passing game? Let the DE's go after Brady?
Get a lead play boring No Turnovers = Win.
The passing games are coming, Miami and Buffalo
Football Outsiders has them ranked 27th, we're ranked 26. 2 weeks ago we were 32. In rushing Defense.
They rank #8 in passing Defense, with Football Outsiders. They give up an avg. 185 yards a game, in passing Defense. Yes Josh fling it.

Agreed. The Bolts have a solid young defense, with edge players like Bosa and Ingram who can get after the GOAT. The OL needs to be at it's best in this one. |

We lose this game I'll be shocked, West Coast to East Coast, in our house. Actually I could see a potential blowout. They play like last week forget it. They revert then its a game.
Get balance, play-action, no turnovers. Only time you worry about the DE is long yardage situations. Play boring. Patience, play field position game.
Funny after game all the talk shows up here, the former players, Mayo, Brown, Koppen, all said the Pats are almost unbeatable in Play-Action passing. Unfortunately you have to run for this to work. Yards is not important its attempting you want to establish the run, that sets up a Defense.

I think the Pats can run against this team. Andrews, Shaq and Cannon coming off very good game can continue to exploit the Chargers aggressive rush. Some screen passes and draw plays should also be an early part of the game plan. Was not impressed with the Chargers LB's (disclaimer: have only seen the Chargers play 1 time this season)
I would like to see both Hogan and Dorsett more decoy a S deep this game, with Cooks and Danny and Gronk working short routes, pooch screens and slants. Would also think Lewis, Burkhead and White could combine for 15 plus rcpts
I would also expect more bend but do not break. Give Rivers 300 plus yards, but turn him over 2 to 3 times.

Yards is not important its attempting you want to establish the run, that sets up a Defense. Losing this game would certainly be a major disappointment, after the Pats jut turned in their best performance of the years against Atlanta. I'm not saying that the Pats are going to lose...just that this game has the potential to be a tougher one than expected.
On the other hand, if the Patriots turn in another very good performance next week, Pats' fans will be justified in being optimistic for the remainder of the season.
But, as always, staying relatively injury free is the key. Look at what happened in Philly. They're flying high at 6-1, and then their starting LT, pro-bowler Jason Peters, tears up his knee and is done for the season. Things can change in a hurry in pro football.

Yeah, plus although I don't know Solder I can imagine he has a lot of support from his teammates and it's at least a little therapeutic to lose himself in the game he's been playing since he was a kid himself.
