that the best you got. He has won more Super Bowls then most TEAMS, and you ask why he doesn’t have more? Really? He is the BEST ever, that doesn’t mean he wins every year. It means he does it better then anyone else. Plus not sure how Marino or Eli or Brees has to do with BB bring 60-72 without Brady. Zero division titles in eight years. Oh wait it has nothing to do. It’s Wozzy changing the topic cause he can’t argue the reality of BB without Brady’s record. Belichick has won more Super Bowls than most teams...what’s the point again? Bill drafted Brady, then turned him into a winning machine... he didn’t just appear out of the mist.Let's not get carried away and pretend Belichick should get all that credit. It's cringe worthy when you and the BB nuthuggers act as if Belichick personally set out on foot and searched the earth and found Brady under a rock. LOL! Always a great story and sometimes needs to be repeated how it actually went down.... Before the draft, Belichick hired veteran assistant Dick Rehbein to be his quarterbacks coach even though he had not previously held the position at any level. In Michael Holley's book, "Belichick and Brady," he explained the decision to hire Rehbein. "He had played some college ball himself, at center," Holley wrote. "While he didn't have the perspective of someone who had played quarterback, he was often the quarterback of the offensive line. Even better, he was an informed outsider. He had coached for fifteen years, but analyzing quarterbacks was new to him. He'd bring fresh eyes to the job. He was hired eight weeks before the draft, and there was plenty of work to do. One of his assignments from Belichick was to study college quarterbacks and find one who could potentially back up starter Drew Bledsoe." According to Belichick, during an interview with the NFL Network, when Rehbein returned, he told Belichick that Brady was "the best fit for the [Patriots'] system" and others in the front office and among the coaches agreed. In particular, the team loved Brady's mental makeup and leadership skills. Thanks BB for sending Dick out to find a QB.. and thanks Dick Rehbein for finding and recommending Tom Brady.

New England's personnel man, Bobby Grier, a holdover from the Bill Parcells and Pete Carroll regimes, deserves credit for being the only NFL executive to call Michigan coach Lloyd Carr, his former staffmate at Eastern Michigan, to check on Brady's pros and cons. Belichick made it clear that Dick was "the guy that's most responsible" for Brady being a Patriot.

I would continue to work with Wentz. I don't think Hurts is very good, certainly not better than Wentz.

LMAO!! You would have been better off just not even responding to my last post!! Here’s the video of Bill saying he sent Dick to scout two quarterbacks from his own mouth. This is the same video I shared with Babe years ago that made him look foolish for asserting the same thing. m.youtube.com/watch?v=XQWpTfRuaLMBB drafted Tom Brady. Stop making yourself look silly. The QB coach that Bill hired recommending one of two quarterbacks means the guy he hired did his job. Tim Rattay was short and not that good. Video evidence sucks for you. What sucks worse is there’s no question Bill makes all the picks. That you give Bill shit for bad picks and no credit for good ones not only shows a bias, but adds to your reputation as the heir apparent to Babe... Babe-lite. Game over.

A couple certainly could mean a few, more than two. Per Merriam-webster...Couple is now understood primarily to refer to two when used as a bare noun ("they make a nice couple"), but is often used to refer to a small indeterminate of two or more when used in the phrase a couple of ("I had a couple of cups of coffee and now I can't sleep.").

I think a team to watch in the QB musical chairs game is Miami. will they draft a QB at #3? I do think the Jets will draft a QB or trade out that said, 3 QB's could be gone in the top 3 picks.
but what happens if the Dolphins do not choose a QB? Falcons/Eagles/Bengals also do not choose a QB Lions either trade Stafford or do not choose a QB Giants do not choose a QB Panthers and Broncos up next. Either could go QB, or both could pass. TedyB and Locke. Cowboys/Chargers/Vikings all do not choose a QB
Pats could be on the board with only 2 QB's drafted if the chips fall in their favor

Also have to keep in mind the best LOT Penei Sewell could be available at 3. Many teams will look for that too. Or Miami takes him for help for Tua. I put it at 80% they do not draft a QB. Went 10-5 so far with Tua and Fitz, just keep adding pieces. Heck Trade down a bit like a Team like Bengals who need a LT, they could still be in a great position. Miami is in a Pretty envious position.

Hang on to both guys for 1 year and then trade one of them. If not that - then trade back for a haul. Offers are coming no doubt.

If Harry indeed turns out the bust that fans think he is already BB will get the blame. Why? Because he makes the picks. But, from the way I'm reading your debate with TFB12 then someone else on the staff could get the blame for pushing for Harry. Someone (a scout) must have or did BB pick him out of the blue? My point is as you said, BB gets the blame for the misses but people don't want to give him credit for the hits. BB could throw his staff under the bus and say hey, my guy really pushed for Harry. I had faith that he was correct and drafted him. It obviously wasn't the right pick. Although I don't see him doing any such thing. BB is responsible for drafting Tom Brady. Period.

Yeah, I’m sure Charlie Weis, the OC at the time, who specifically said 4, not a couple, not a few but FOUR... lied. And then I’m sure the Star Tribune was lying too when I confirmed the following “ Many believe it was Rehbein’s draft-room persuasiveness that pushed Belichick into picking Brady in the sixth round in 2000. A year later, after Brady replaced the injured Bledsoe in Week 2 and was leading the Patriots toward the first of their five Super Bowl titles, Belichick hinted as much when he said Rehbein was “the guy that’s most responsible for Brady.” Belichick is saying Rehbein is the guy who’s most responsible for Brady. Now, had Rehbein recommended someone else and Belichick went against him and took Brady, well... that would be a different story, wouldn’t it?!?!

Give me a break for giving ANY of them credit. He was taken in the freaking 6th round, pick 199. They are just LUCKY no one else picked him. At that point in the draft, it was like, well no one left will make the team, so pick him.

By now everyone is aware of the Patriots' recent struggles in the draft, but it's hard to peg an exact reason why. Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated's MMQB took a deep dive into the Patriots' issues of late and came away with a few interesting nuggets. One of the biggest misses recently was selecting N'Keal Harry in the first round last year over other receivers like Deebo Samuel, A.J. Brown, D.K. Metcalf, etc. According to Breer, Harry "crushed" his in-house visit with the team and got a good review from ex-Arizona State coach Todd Graham, so the team selected him in Round 1 despite warning signs from scouts.Breer adds Harry isn't the only player selected where Belichick may have been swayed too much by a college coach who he's friendly with. Anfernee Jennings, who played for Nick Saban, is another."Which makes it fair to question if he’s leaned too much on his college coaching friends and his personal experience with prospects, and too little on the work of his scouts," Breer wrote. The biggest takeaway from the piece is the Patriots are severely lacking talent and over the years Tom Brady was able to make up for a lot of areas where the roster fell short.“They’re just devoid of talent,” an NFC personnel director said. “It’s a bunch of specialty guys that fit certain scenarios, and those guys are fine, but they don’t have line-up-and-kick-your-ass football players. [Stephon] Gilmore’s a real guy. [Joe] Thuney’s a real guy. I like J.C. Jackson. But other than that, I don’t know who we’re really talking about." New England Patriots Newsletter
