I wonder if they will ask him why he always greased up his hands before big games.

That's a shame the guy was a great pat. I hope he doesn't get CTE real bad. Gomer wanted to kill him more then Hernandez.

Tonight after the game,NFL Network is showing the "Tuck Rule" game on Timeline.I expect it to be very slanted towards being sympathetic to the Raiders though. They never mention that the Patriots had the "tuck rule" called against them versus the Jets earlier that season.

That goes against the grain to maintain the image the Pats get all the calls!

Don't forget to set your DVR's A Football Life Friday, October 6th at 9:00 pm Eastern Time Yes he was 0-3 in SB's but 1st SB he was the only guy the Giants could not stop, too bad Brady tried to force it to Moss all game. 2nd SB, if it's in your hands you are supposed to catch it, his legend faded and he became human. 3rd SB, Denver ran into the Legion of Boom, a defensive dynasty, until the Patriots put them in their place the following season.

Fantastic episode!
The production he put up for the Patriots is unmatched. Probably will never be matched by another player in a Patriots uniform.

I thought I saw last weekend that Gronk passed Welker on passes/passing yards/TD's from Brady? Honestly can't remember which stat it was but it was discussed during the Carolina game.

Wes should have taken the money that Bill offered. He could have torched Rex for a couple more years.
But then JE may not have emerged

Get over it already, he was a great player.
Welker was a Pat for six years, he caught 86 passes in 2010, the year after he blew out his ACL. Never caught fewer than 111 any other year. That's pretty good.
Edelman's great, too. But, statistically it's not really much of a contest. JE's high is 105 catches in 2013, the only year he caught 100.
Overall, 903 recepts and 50 TDs vs. 425 and 24.
Durability? Welker missed 6 games in 10 years. When this year is in the books, JE will have missed 41 in nine years.
Other than that, I guess they're really close...Edelman looks better in a fur coat and cowboy boots, though. He's definitely more fashionable. Just wish he could stay on the field.

WW's 2 issues were he never was on a SB winner and he signed with Denver. He's still in Brady's inner circle and that's fine with me. He had a very good career with the Pats.
I'm glad we have JE and DA.

Wes was a hell of a football player, he put his body on the line too many times to count to make crucial catches. I don't understand the need to demean him, even his bad decision to leave NE could have been caused by head trauma.

I don't understand the need to demean him, even his bad decision to leave NE could have been caused by head trauma. He would have stayed with the Pats if the Pats had given any ground. He came back to show the Pats the denver offer HOPING the Pats would move. Instead they just told him "we have moved on". The ONE thing I cannot get past is that ONE drop in the SB. We win the game if he catches it. He didn't lose the game for us but he could have sealed the win. It was not an easy catch to make. But he had two hands on the ball - solidly on the ball. If we feel bad about it how do you think he feels?

His production is unmatched. The production 6 consecutive seasons in this offense, the durability he had. Unbelievable. We'll never see that again in NE. One of the facts I didn't known about Welker was he kicked off and kicked FGs in a game when on the Dolphins. Also kicked a 57 yard field goal in high school. Interesting stuff.

Wes was consistently greater for us. Mankins was great at times but inconsistent. Both should be pats hall of gamers and wes deserves consideration for the NFL hall of fame but no way should mankins be in the NFL hall of fame.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Edellman fan but... For 1 game I would take prime Welker over Prime Edelman. For 1 season I would take prime Welker over Edelman. You seem to base who the better player is based on SB wins. I guess you think Damien Woody, Mike Compton, Joe Andruzzi, Dan Connolly and Joe Thuney are all better than John Hannah and Branch, LaFell and Hogan are all better than Randy Moss. Stats mean something until they don't.. Well here stats mean it all. Stats tell you who the better player is/was. Edit... Edelman has no chance to make the HOF, Welker has a shot. Again, that tells it all.

It's a habit. Winners just win while other guys pile up stats and never win.

Moss was great but I think hogan has a chance to be special. He's in the right place at the right time in big moments so far. Sure no miss but pretty damn good.

Wes was amazing during his time with the Patriots. The team was 74-19 when he played and 5-4 in the playoffs.
All he did was win. To judge him by super bowls is ignorant. John Hannah didn't win a super bowl either.
